Quick answer
Faux leather dining room chairs are chairs with a synthetic leather-look seat and back, usually polyurethane (PU), which wipe clean more easily than fabric. To choose, check the seat height against your table (about 10 to 12 inches below the tabletop is our planning estimate), the seat width and depth for comfort, how many chairs come in the set (many are sets of 2) and what the upholstery is actually made of.
We read three Amazon listings on 2026-09-30: a bucket-seat pair on a tubular metal base, a pair of mid-century chairs with a stated seat height of 17.7 inches and a set of four curved-back chairs in PU leather. They are examples of what to compare, not a ranking. We have not tested or sat on any of them. All numbers come from the listings.

What faux leather means
Faux leather is a synthetic covering made to look like leather. The most common is PU, polyurethane coated on a fabric base. Listings also say leatherette, vegan leather or bonded leather. They are not the same as a hide.
The Signature Design by Ashley Centiar listing gives its fabric as 70 percent PU, 18 percent cotton and 12 percent polyester, which shows a PU coating on a cotton and polyester backing. The YOUNUOKE and LUCKIIA listings name faux leather and PU leather.
Why people choose it
The surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, so spills do not soak in. The YOUNUOKE listing says its faux leather aims to be waterproof and scratch-resistant and suggests wiping with a leather cleaner. The Ashley listing describes a firm comfort from a bucket seat upholstered in faux leather.
The trade-offs are heat and wear. A synthetic seat may feel warm in summer, and the coating can wear over years. The listings do not give a durability figure, so we cannot compare them.
Seat height and the table
The seat should sit below the tabletop with room for your legs. As our own planning estimate, not a standard, a seat about 10 to 12 inches below the tabletop suits a typical table. On a 30 inch table, that means a seat of about 18 to 20 inches.
The listings give a seat height of 18.75 inches for the Ashley chair and 17.7 inches for the YOUNUOKE chair. The LUCKIIA listing gives no seat height in the fields we read. So on a 30 inch table the Ashley seat leaves 30 − 18.75 = 11.25 inches and the YOUNUOKE leaves 30 − 17.7 = 12.3 inches.
Seat width and depth
The YOUNUOKE seat is 19.3 inches wide and 18.9 inches deep with a back 17.3 inches wide and 13.4 inches high. The Ashley seat is 15 inches deep and its chair width is 18.5 to 19.25 inches depending on the field. The LUCKIIA chair is listed at 15 by 18 by 31.1 inches.
A seat depth of 15 inches is shallow. As our own rough estimate, leave about 2 inches between the seat front and the back of your knee. For someone with a hip-to-knee length of 18 inches, the Ashley’s 15 inches leaves 3 inches and the YOUNUOKE’s 18.9 inches is 0.9 inch too long.
Sets of 2 and sets of 4
The Ashley and YOUNUOKE listings are sets of 2, and the LUCKIIA is a set of 4. If your table seats four, you need two sets of 2 or one set of 4. Two sets of 2 may differ slightly in color or batch, so buy them together.
Weight ratings
The YOUNUOKE listing gives a 300 pound maximum recommendation. The LUCKIIA listing gives none in the text we read. The Ashley listing gives none either. A missing rating is a question to ask the seller.
Metal or wood legs
The Ashley and LUCKIIA chairs have metal frames, tubular for the Ashley and iron for the LUCKIIA. The YOUNUOKE chair lists a metal frame with tapered legs and mentions wood. Metal frames are slim and strong. Some LUCKIIA bullets mention rubber foot caps that protect floors, and the Ashley listing says the chair is not stackable.
Assembly
The Ashley listing says assembly is required, with tools and hardware included, and links to an assembly guide. The YOUNUOKE listing says to attach the legs with screws and tighten with the provided tool. The LUCKIIA listing is a set of 4 with no assembly description in the text we read.
Care
Wipe faux leather with a soft damp cloth and follow the seller’s instructions. The YOUNUOKE listing suggests a leather cleaner. Avoid harsh solvents, which can damage a coating, although the listings we read do not name a solvent. If a chair’s covering begins to peel, a slipcover or replacement is the usual fix; see chair slipcovers.
The three listings we read
Signature Design by Ashley Centiar Mid-Century Dining Chair, set of 2, brown (model D372-01). The listing gives 21.5 by 18.5 by 31 inches in the table and 21.5 by 18.75 by 30.75 inches in a bullet, a seat height of 18.75 inches, a seat depth of 15 inches, a listed weight of 14 pounds, a tubular metal base, a bucket seat in faux leather with a 70 percent PU fabric blend and a statement that it is not stackable. Good for: a small table where a firm bucket seat is wanted. Keep in mind: the two size lines differ, the listing gives no weight rating and the seat is shallow. The page showed an Add to Cart button and an In Stock message.
YOUNUOKE Dining Chairs Set of 2, mid-century modern, green (model Dining Chairs). The listing gives 18.9 by 19.3 by 31.1 inches, a seat height of 17.7 inches, a seat depth of 18.9 inches, a back 17.3 inches wide and 13.4 inches high, a listed weight of 29.5 pounds, a 300 pound maximum recommendation, faux leather over high-density foam and a metal frame. Good for: a small kitchen where the seat heights and sizes are stated. Keep in mind: the listing says the item size field is 23.23 by 11.02 by 11.42 inches, which is the package, and its bullets call it a compact set for couples. The page showed an Add to Cart button and an In Stock message.
LUCKIIA Upholstered Dining Chairs Set of 4, mid-century modern, PU leather, walnut and beige. The listing gives 15 by 18 by 31.1 inches, a listed weight of 39.6 pounds, an iron frame with tapered legs, a padded PU leather seat and backrest, a curved back and rubber foot caps. Good for: a table for four where one set covers every seat. Keep in mind: no seat height or weight rating is given in the fields we read, and the listing said only one set was left in stock on the day we read it, which can change. The page showed an Add to Cart button.
A worked example
These numbers are invented. A table is 48 inches long, 30 inches wide and 30 inches high. You want four chairs, two on each long side.
Width. Two YOUNUOKE chairs at 19.3 inches take 38.6 inches of a long side, leaving 48 − 38.6 = 9.4 inches. Two LUCKIIA chairs at 18 inches take 36 inches, leaving 12 inches. Two Ashley chairs at about 18.5 inches take 37 inches, leaving 11 inches.
Seat height. The YOUNUOKE seat at 17.7 inches is 30 − 17.7 = 12.3 inches below the tabletop, and the Ashley at 18.75 inches is 11.25 inches below, both within our 10 to 12 inch planning range, with the YOUNUOKE just outside it.
Depth. For a person with an 18 inch hip-to-knee length, the Ashley’s 15 inch seat leaves 3 inches and the YOUNUOKE’s 18.9 inches is 0.9 inch too long, as calculated above.
Sets. To seat four you would buy two Ashley sets or two YOUNUOKE sets, or one LUCKIIA set. One LUCKIIA set has 4 chairs, so there is no risk of batch mismatch.
Red flags in listings
A seat height that equals the overall chair height, which we saw on a brushed steel and faux leather chair whose seat height field shows 33.5 inches for a chair 33.5 inches tall, is a mislabeled field. A size line that shows the package, two different sizes for the same chair, and “set of 4” titles with “set of 2” counts are signs to ask. Always check the seat height separately.
Who should skip faux leather chairs
If your dining room is warm, a synthetic seat can be sticky. If you want to reupholster later, a simple wood chair may be easier. If anyone at the table has very sensitive skin, consider a cotton or linen fabric. For lighter-weight fabric options, see dining chairs.
Frequently asked questions
Is faux leather the same as PU leather?
PU leather is the most common kind of faux leather. Some listings also say leatherette or bonded leather. Read the specification.
Is faux leather good for dining chairs?
It wipes clean, which suits dining. It may feel warm, and the listings give no wear figures.
How do I clean faux leather chairs?
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and follow the seller’s instructions. One listing we read suggests a leather cleaner.
What seat height should dining chairs have?
About 10 to 12 inches below the tabletop, by our estimate. For a 30 inch table that is about 18 to 20 inches.
Are faux leather chairs sold in sets of four?
Some are. Others come in sets of 2, so check the count.
Bottom line
Choose faux leather dining room chairs by seat height, seat depth, set size and material words. Of the three listings above, the Ashley is the firm bucket seat pair with a shallow seat, the YOUNUOKE is the pair with stated sizes and a 300 pound rating, and the LUCKIIA is the set of four with the fewest stated numbers. Measure your table and count your seats before ordering.
