• Inside a wet shower with a shelf: LEJANEOYE (B0FC19N1P5) and oridom (B0D811BD99) are the clearest bamboo options, with listed limits of 250 and 300 pounds.
• In a corner of a wet shower and as little footprint as possible: IBosins (B0D8PNDVBX) is a triangular acacia stool, but its listed limit is only 120 pounds.
• Dry storage in a small bathroom: Alaterre (B0F68TYSQS) has a cushion and a lower shelf, but the listing says “Do Not Use in the Shower.”

Wet or dry: decide first

Wet use (inside the shower). Look for words such as water-resistant, waterproof, bamboo or acacia with a protective finish, and non-slip feet. Check the weight limit, because a shower seat takes a lot of load when someone sits down quickly. The shower-use listings in this set state limits between 110 and 300 pounds.

Dry use (outside the shower). The bench is a storage piece, not a seat for a wet body. The Alaterre listing says it should not be used in the shower. The FLYZC listing is a vanity stool with a lower shelf, and it does not say it is for shower use.

Notes. LEJANEOYE’s specs label its dimensions as seat length and seat width, which is unusual; we use the dimension field and mention the labels. IBosins gives two different heights. Alaterre’s dimensions in the bullet differ from the dimension field, which is why we show both. Product notes: pros and cons

LEJANEOYE (B0FC19N1P5). Pros: bamboo with a water-resistant finish, an A-shaped base with thickened legs, a shower-head holder and two stainless hooks, and a listed limit of 250 pounds. Cons: “water-resistant” is not the same as waterproof, and the seat width is 11.7 inches by the listing’s own label, which makes it a narrow seat.

IBosins (B0D8PNDVBX). Pros: a triangular shape that fits a corner, non-slip feet and thick screws. Cons: the listed limit of 120 pounds is the lowest among the true shower seats here. Its height figures conflict, and the seat is small.

oridom (B0D811BD99). Pros: a slatted seat that drains water, a center storage compartment for bottles, anti-skid pads, and a listed limit of 300 pounds. Cons: the listing describes a 100 percent waterproof coating, which we cannot verify. The seat is 10 inches deep, so it is best for a short sit, not a long one.

Alaterre Coventry (B0F68TYSQS). Pros: a removable cushion, a lower shelf, and a listed limit of 250 pounds. Cons: the listing says not to use it in the shower, so it does not help with wet storage. Its dimensions do not match between the field and the bullet.

KKTONER (B0811LGKP6). Pros: light (2.2 kg), a small footprint, and easy assembly. Cons: the listed limit is 110 pounds, which is the lowest in this set. The title says it has a shelf, but the bullets do not describe its size or capacity.

FLYZC (B0H4LWNWP2). Pros: a metal frame with square legs, faux-leather upholstery that wipes clean, and a lower shelf. Cons: it is a vanity stool, not a bench, and its footprint is wider than the small-bathroom stools.

Worked example: a 32 in square shower stall

Say the stall is 32 x 32 in, which is 1,024 sq in (32 x 32). Footprint is width times depth from the listings.

• LEJANEOYE is 16.4 x 11.7 in, or about 192 sq in, about 19%.

Weight limit. For a 250 lb user, oridom’s 300 lb leaves 50 lb spare and LEJANEOYE’s 250 lb leaves none. IBosins at 120 lb is 130 lb short (250 minus 120) and KKTONER at 110 lb is 140 lb short. This guide does not give safety advice, so follow the manufacturer’s instructions and speak to a qualified professional if falls are a concern.

Mistakes to avoid

• Putting a dry stool in the shower. Alaterre’s listing says “Do Not Use in the Shower”, and the FLYZC vanity stool is not described for wet use either.
• Reading a label as a size. LEJANEOYE’s specs call its 16.4 and 11.7 in figures seat length and seat width, which is unusual. Check the dimensions against the photos.
• Taking waterproof at face value. LEJANEOYE says water-resistant and oridom says 100 percent waterproof. Neither claim is verified here, so follow the care instructions and dry the slats.
• Blocking the door or toilet. None of the listings gives a clearance figure, so mark the footprint on the floor with tape before you order.

Who should skip a small bathroom storage bench

• If you need a seat in a wet shower and the listing does not say it is for shower use, do not use a dry bench there.
• If you need storage for bulk supplies, note that none of the listings states how much weight or volume its shelf holds.
• If you have a tight space and the bench blocks the toilet or the door swing, measure the room before you buy.
