A portable massage table is a padded, folding bed on adjustable legs with a face cradle, and the three listings compared here range from 72 to 84 inches long with the headrest. Check the length with and without the headrest, the width, the height range, the padding thickness and, above all, how the weight capacity is worded. A listing can say 500, 551 or 1,100 pounds, and those figures are not always the same kind of number.

We read three Amazon listings on 2026-10-01: the Masajeo 2-section portable massage table (ASIN B09P43KRSG), the DOVANS 2-fold professional massage table (B0D6YV99S2) and the Luxton Home memory foam massage table (B07GTC1TQW). They are examples of what to compare, not a ranking. Every number comes from the listings.

This is shopping information, not medical or professional advice. If you are going to give massages to clients, check local rules and ask a professional body about equipment standards. For a seat rather than a table, see massage chair and massage chairs for home if live.

Length and width

The Masajeo listing gives 84 by 24 by 26 inches with the headrest and armrests, and a table width of 24 inches. The Luxton listing gives a table of 72 by 27 inches in its title, and says that the assembled size with the headrest and armrest is 84.5 inches long. The DOVANS listing gives a width of 28 inches in its depth field and does not give a length in the text we read.

The longer figure includes the face cradle, so the sleeping surface is shorter. A worked example with illustrative numbers. A client is 72 inches tall (6 feet). The Luxton table is 72 inches without its headrest, so the client would be exactly on the table with no space to spare for the head, while the headrest adds 84.5 − 72 = 12.5 inches. A table 24 inches wide is narrower than a table 28 inches wide by 4 inches, which is about 17 percent more width (4 ÷ 24 ≈ 0.167). The extra width is more comfortable for a broad-shouldered client and takes more room to carry.

Height range

A massage table needs to suit the person giving the massage as well as the person receiving it. The Masajeo listing gives an adjustable range of 24 to 34 inches (60 to 86 centimeters) in 9 positions. The DOVANS listing says 8 heights adjustable with a knob on each leg. The Luxton listing says height adjustable with a knob on each leg and gives no range in the text we read.

A person whose knuckles are 30 inches from the floor would set a 30 inch table, which is inside the Masajeo range of 24 to 34 inches.

Padding

The DOVANS listing says 2.36 inches (6 centimeters) of double-layer foam, with 0.78 inches (2 centimeters) of memory foam on top and 1.57 inches (4 centimeters) of high-elastic foam beneath, covered in PU leather. The Luxton listing says 5 centimeters (about 2 inches) of foam, with 2 centimeters of memory foam over 3 centimeters of regular foam, and a PU leather cover. The Masajeo listing mentions advanced PVC leather that is waterproof and oil-proof, but does not give a foam thickness in the text we read.

Thicker padding is more comfortable for the client, and it also raises the table’s top surface slightly and adds weight. A 2 inch pad is typical for a portable table, which is our general expectation and not a figure from these listings.

The weight rating: three different numbers

This is where listings get confusing. The Masajeo item highlight says “500 LBS load capacity”. The Luxton listing says a maximum working load of 250 kilograms, which it converts to 551 pounds (250 × 2.2046 ≈ 551), and adds that the headrest cradle and face hole support only 20 kilograms (44 pounds). The DOVANS title says “hold up to 1,100 pounds” and its bullets say a “maximum load-bearing capacity” of 1,100 pounds.

Three different phrases are in play: load capacity, working load and load-bearing capacity. A working load is usually the weight the table is meant to carry in use, while a maximum or breaking load is what the structure might withstand before failing. The listings do not define their terms, so we cannot say which figure is a safe working load. Do not read the 1,100 pound figure as meaning the table is safe for a 1,100 pound person.

A worked example. A 250 pound client on a 500 pound rating has 250 pounds of headroom. On the Luxton’s 551 pound working load, the headroom is 301 pounds, and the face cradle limit of 44 pounds means you should not lean on the headrest.

Frame, legs and weight

The Masajeo table has a beech wood frame, which the listing calls strong planks and a load-bearing structure. The Luxton table has a hardwood frame and steel support cables. The DOVANS table has an arched aluminum alloy leg structure, which the listing says is lighter and stable.

The tables weigh 29.9 pounds (Masajeo) and 37 pounds (DOVANS). The Luxton weight was not recorded. Wood is stiffer and can be heavier. Aluminum is lighter for carrying. Check the carrying bag, since a 30 to 40 pound table with a bag is a one-person carry, which is our estimate and not a listing figure.

Headrest and armrests

The Masajeo listing includes a detachable headrest and armrests that increase the length and width of the table. The DOVANS listing says with 2 armrests and a carrying bag. The Luxton listing mentions a face hole in the middle for shorter people, a side pouch for oils and a carrying case, and a headrest cradle.

If you want to use the table face up only, the headrest is optional. If you want a cradle that adjusts in height, check whether the listing mentions it.

Cover and oils

The covers are PU or PVC leather. The Masajeo listing says waterproof and oil-proof and easy to clean. The Luxton listing says skin safe and durable. Oil can degrade some synthetic leather over time, which is a general property and not a claim from the listings, so check the care notes.

Setup

The Luxton listing says it takes one or two minutes to set up. The DOVANS listing says each leg has 8 holes and one knob. The Masajeo listing says the table folds like a travel case. Set-up times are the sellers’ claims.

The three listings we read

Professional Massage Table Portable Massage Bed, Black (2-Section) (Masajeo) (ASIN B09P43KRSG). The listing gives 84 by 24 by 26 inches with the headrest, a height range of 24 to 34 inches in 9 positions, a weight of 29.9 pounds, a 500 pound load capacity, a beech wood frame and PVC leather. Good for: a stated height range and a lighter table. Keep in mind: no foam thickness was recorded.

DOVANS 2 Fold Professional Massage Table, Hold Up to 1100LBS (ASIN B0D6YV99S2). The listing gives a width of 28 inches, a weight of 37 pounds, 8 heights, 2.36 inches of double-layer foam, aluminum legs, 2 armrests and a carrying bag. Good for: the widest table with the most padding stated. Keep in mind: no length was recorded and the 1,100 pound figure is a load-bearing claim.

Luxton Home Memory Foam Massage Table, 72 Inches Long 27 Inches Wide (ASIN B07GTC1TQW). The listing gives a table 72 by 27 inches, an assembled length of 84.5 inches with the headrest and armrest, 5 centimeters of foam, a 551 pound working load, a 44 pound headrest limit, a hardwood frame and a carrying case. Good for: a clearly worded working load and a headrest limit. Keep in mind: no height range or weight was recorded.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not read a “1,100 pound” claim as a working load. Do not forget the headrest limit. Do not buy a 24 inch table for a broad client without checking the width. And do not assume the length includes the headrest.

Who should skip a portable table

If you will use it every day with clients, a stationary table is steadier. If you only want to lie down at home, a mattress or a firm bed may be enough. If you need a table at a specific height for a medical purpose, ask a professional.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a massage table?

The tables we read are 72 to 84 inches long with the headrest. The 84 inch figure includes the headrest.

How wide is a massage table?

The listings give 24, 27 and 28 inches.

How much weight can a massage table hold?

The listings say 500, 551 and 1,100 pounds, with different wording. The 551 pound figure is called a working load.

How high should a massage table be?

It depends on the giver. The Masajeo goes from 24 to 34 inches. Our estimate is to start near knuckle height.

Is a portable table steady?

It can be, but a portable folding table is not as rigid as a fixed one.

Bottom line

Choose a massage table by length with the headrest, width, height range, padding and how the load rating is worded. Of the three listings, the Masajeo is the 84 inch table with a stated height range, the DOVANS is the 28 inch wide aluminum table with the highest claim and the Luxton gives the clearest working load and a 44 pound headrest limit. Ask the seller to define their load figure.
