The arithmetic is 75 − 69 = 6, 76 − 69 = 7, 75 − 76 = −1 and 76 − 76 = 0. A sleeper whose height equals the bed length has no room for a pillow, so a very tall guest needs more. The MEGAYES listing addresses this: it says its standard sizes suit users up to 5 ft 9 in and its XL versions suit sleepers up to 6 ft 4 in, which is the seller’s claim and not a tested figure.

Width: narrower than a twin

The MAXYOYO lists a sleeping size of 76 by 30 inches. A twin is 38 inches wide, so that is 38 − 30 = 8 inches narrower. As areas, 76 x 30 = 2,280 sq in against a twin’s 38 x 75 = 2,850 sq in, which is 2,280 / 2,850 = 80 percent of a twin. The Hilero lists a seat interior width of 26 inches, which is 12 inches narrower than a twin (38 − 26 = 12). A narrow bed suits one sleeper and not two, and a tall or broad sleeper may roll off the edge.

The other two listings do not give a bed width in the rows we read, so ask before you assume it matches a twin.

Weight limit and who it suits

The limits are 200 lb for the Hilero, 250 lb for the MEGAYES (listed as a minimum weight capacity), 400 lb for the MAXYOYO and 400 lb for the boneless chair futon. A 200 lb limit is a real constraint for an adult guest, so check it first. The limits are the seller’s static figures and say nothing about how the chair feels at that weight.

Frame, assembly and weight

The MAXYOYO is the only chair with a frame, listed as metal and wood. It weighs 40 lb, ships with tools and instructions and says assembly takes about 30 minutes. The MEGAYES weighs 28 lb and says it is ready in 60 seconds with no tools, expanding from a vacuum seal to 95 percent in seconds and fully in 12 to 24 hours. A light chair is easy to move for a guest room and easy to push across a floor, which a non-slip base may help, and the listings do not all mention one.

Seat height and sitting
