1. Vintage Style Faux Leather Ottoman Footstool – Wooden Frame, Upholstered Interior, Multi-Use Footrest for Living Room, Entryway, Office (Brown) — Largest listed footprint

Listed details: dimensions 12.21″ D × 16.9″ W × 10.2″ H; item weight 14.08 ounces; material Hardwood; frame Wood; color Brown.

The generic-brand footstool is an oval brown faux leather ottoman with a wooden frame, upholstered interior and metal legs. The spec table lists 12.21″D x 16.9″W x 10.2″H, a seat height of 10.2 inches and an Item Weight of 14.08 ounces. That weight is very low for a wood-framed seat with metal legs, so it should be verified. The spec table calls the material hardwood with a leather top, while the bullets say faux leather and metal legs, so the listing describes its materials in different ways. No weight capacity is stated. Footprint is 1.43 sq ft (12.21 × 16.9 ÷ 144), the largest of the three.

Pros

  • Faux leather upholstery is described as durable and simple to clean
  • Listed as a footrest, extra seat or accent piece, with a compact size for corners
  • Lowest height of the three, 10.2 in, for a short footrest

Cons

  • No weight capacity is stated, so sitting on it is unconfirmed
  • Weight of 14.08 ounces looks too low, and the materials differ between the table and the bullets
  • Largest footprint, 1.43 sq ft, with no storage and a brand listed only as Generic

Who it is for / who should skip it: Pick it as a low, easy-clean footrest for a living room corner. Skip it if you need a stated seat load or storage.

2. Cmishe Ottoman Leather Footrest,Vintage Footstool,Thickened Foam Upholstered Seat,Wooden Leg Foot Rest,Under Desk Shoe Bench Small Bench for Living Room Dining Room(Bronw) — Middle listed footprint

Listed details: dimensions 16″ L × 12″ W × 12″ H; item weight 5.6 pounds; material Oil Wax Faux Leather + Solid Wood + High-Density Sponge; frame Engineered Wood; color Brown.

Cmishe is the one with a hidden storage box at the bottom for remotes, keys or socks. The spec table lists 16″L x 12″W x 12″H and 5.6 pounds, while a bullet says 16″L x 12″W x 12.5″H, so the height is listed two ways. The bullets say it supports up to 300 lbs on four flared solid beechwood legs with anti-slip felt pads, and describe a button-tufted top with antique copper nailhead trim. The title spells the color Bronw, the Color field says Brown and a bullet mentions a black finish, so check the photos. Footprint is 1.33 sq ft (16 × 12 ÷ 144).

Pros

  • Built-in storage compartment at the bottom, which the other two do not list
  • States 300 lbs capacity on four solid beechwood legs with felt pads
  • Button-tufted top with copper nailheads suits the vintage look

Cons

  • Height is 12 in in the spec table and 12.5 in in a bullet, and the color is named three ways
  • Frame is listed as engineered wood while the bullets stress solid wood legs
  • The 300 lbs capacity is lower than KUKEJCM’s 440 pounds, and the storage box is small

Who it is for / who should skip it: Choose it if you want a vintage tufted look with a place to stash small things. Skip it if you need the highest rated load.

3. Ottoman Foot Rest, Small Leather Footstool, Vintage Living Room Ottoman, Solid Wooden Shoe Stool, Dark Brown — Smallest listed footprint

Listed details: dimensions 14.57″ D × 11.8″ W × 11.8″ H; listed maximum weight 440 pounds; material rubber wood; frame Rubberwood; color Dark Brown.

KUKEJCM is the smallest and the most heavily rated: a dark brown rubberwood footstool with a leather top, listed at 14.57″D x 11.8″W x 11.8″H. The spec table gives a Maximum Weight Recommendation of 440 pounds and a seat height of 11.8 inches. The bullets mention microfibre leather over a high-density sponge cushion, brass rivets, polished rounded corners, and a non-slip shim on each foot. The listing pitches it as a shoe stool for an entrance as well as a footrest. No item weight is listed. Footprint is 1.19 sq ft (14.57 × 11.8 ÷ 144).

Pros

  • States a Maximum Weight Recommendation of 440 pounds, the highest of the three
  • Smallest listed footprint, 1.19 sq ft (14.57 × 11.8 ÷ 144)
  • Rounded corners and non-slip shims on the feet are listed

Cons

  • No item weight and no storage
  • The spec table says leather but the bullets say microfibre leather fabric, so it is not genuine leather
  • Rubberwood frame is described as rubberised solid wood, which the listing does not explain further

Who it is for / who should skip it: Pick it as a compact footrest or entry shoe stool with the highest stated load. Skip it if you want a tufted look or hidden storage.

What to check before buying vintage ottoman footstool

A vintage ottoman footstool is mostly a question of height, load and look, and the three listings are close in size. The footprints are 1.43 sq ft for the generic stool (12.21 × 16.9 ÷ 144), 1.33 sq ft for Cmishe (16 × 12 ÷ 144), and 1.19 sq ft for KUKEJCM (14.57 × 11.8 ÷ 144). The gap between largest and smallest is only 0.24 sq ft (1.43 – 1.19), so footprint should not decide the purchase.

Start with height. The generic stool is 10.2 in, KUKEJCM is 11.8 in, and Cmishe is 12 in in the spec table and 12.5 in in a bullet. For a desk or sofa footrest, the difference is a couple of inches, so measure your seat height against these.

Second, load. KUKEJCM states 440 pounds and Cmishe states 300 lbs. The generic stool states none, which matters if guests will sit on it. If you only rest feet on it, the numbers are less important.

Third, materials and what the listing means by leather. The generic stool is faux leather over a wood frame with metal legs. Cmishe is oil wax faux leather with beechwood legs, and KUKEJCM is microfibre leather over rubberwood. None of the three says genuine leather, despite the word in the titles. The spec tables for the first two disagree with their own bullets on some materials.

Fourth, extras. Only Cmishe has a storage compartment, and its tufting and nailheads make it the most decorative. KUKEJCM has brass rivets and non-slip shims. The generic stool has none of these.

Fifth, the data errors: the 14.08 ounce weight on the generic stool, and Cmishe’s two heights.

Worked example: fit math for these three options

This worked example is our own planning arithmetic from the listed dimensions, not test results. The wall length and walkway width are assumed example values; replace them with your measurements.

Wall example. Assume 36 inches of clear wall.

  • Vintage Style Faux Leather Ottoman Footstool: 36 − 16.9 = 19.1 inches spare; centred, 9.55 inches on each side before trim, plugs or curtains.
  • Cmishe Ottoman Leather Footrest: 36 − 12 = 24 inches spare; centred, 12 inches on each side before trim, plugs or curtains.
  • Ottoman Foot Rest: 36 − 11.8 = 24.2 inches spare; centred, 12.1 inches on each side before trim, plugs or curtains.

Walkway example. The US Access Board gives 36 inches as the minimum clear width for an accessible route. That figure is a yardstick, not a rule for private homes. To keep 36 inches clear beside each product, the walkway between it and the opposite obstacle must be at least 36 inches plus its depth:

  • Vintage Style Faux Leather Ottoman Footstool: 36 + 12.21 = 48.21 inches of total path width.
  • Cmishe Ottoman Leather Footrest: 36 + 16 = 52 inches of total path width.
  • Ottoman Foot Rest: 36 + 14.57 = 50.57 inches of total path width.

Footprint. Depth × width, converted at 144 square inches per square foot:

  • Vintage Style Faux Leather Ottoman Footstool: 12.21 × 16.9 = 206.35 sq in, or 1.43 sq ft.
  • Cmishe Ottoman Leather Footrest: 16 × 12 = 192 sq in, or 1.33 sq ft.
  • Ottoman Foot Rest: 14.57 × 11.8 = 171.93 sq in, or 1.19 sq ft.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Reading leather in the title as real leather. The listings describe faux leather or microfibre leather over foam.
  • Assuming it takes an adult. Only KUKEJCM (440 pounds) and Cmishe (300 lbs) state a load, and the generic stool states none.
  • Trusting the generic stool’s weight. A listed 14.08 ounces does not match a wood frame with metal legs, so treat it as a data error.
  • Ignoring Cmishe’s two heights. The spec table says 12 in and a bullet says 12.5 in, so check the clearance under your desk.
