Quick answer
Storage on a TV stand comes in three forms: open shelves, drawers and closed cabinets with doors. Open shelves are easiest for remotes and cooling but show clutter. Drawers hide small things but are shallow. Cabinets hide the most and may block a remote’s signal if the doors are solid.

We read three on Amazon on 2026-10-01: a 58 inch stand with open shelves whose listing gives two different widths, a 47.2 inch stand with two drawers and a mesh shelf, and a 71 inch stand with two cabinets and adjustable open shelving. We have not tested any of them. Every figure comes from the listings, and where a listing contradicts itself we say so.
Three listings, side by side
| Listing | Storage | Size (W x D x H) | Load stated | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GAZHOME TV Stand for TV up to 65 Inches, Open Storage, Black | open 2-tier shelf | 58 x 15 x 19.7 in per bullets; table says 50 x 15 x 19.7 | top 300 lb | 40 lb |
| HOOBRO LED TV Stand with Storage, fits TVs up to 55″ | 2 drawers, mesh shelf, open shelves | 47.2 x 11.8 x 21.8 in | top 110 lb; mesh shelf 22 lb | 17.2 lb |
| 71″ TV Stand, Walnut, up to 80 inch TVs, fluted swing doors | 2 cabinets plus adjustable open shelving | 71 x 15.57 x 17 in | supports TVs up to 100 lb | 59.7 lb |
Contradictions to know about. The GAZHOME bullet says the size is “15×19.7×58 inch” and the table says “50 x 15 x 19.7 inches,” while another row lists “Item Depth 58 inches.” The width could be 58 or 50, and a TV stand that is 8 inches narrower is a different product. It also lists “2 drawers” in a table while its bullets describe a two-tier open shelf and no drawers. The HOOBRO lists a size of 47.2 by 11.8 by 21.8 inches and a weight of 17.2 pounds, light for a stand; its listing mentions an anti-tip device. The 71 inch stand’s weight limit is given for TVs up to 100 pounds, and for TV size up to 80 inches; the 59.7 pound weight and the 15.57 inch depth appear in the table.
A worked example: does your TV fit?
TV sizes are diagonals. For a 16:9 screen the width is the diagonal times 0.8716. This is geometry, not a listing figure.
- 55 inch TV: 55 × 0.8716 = 47.9 inches wide.
- 65 inch TV: 65 × 0.8716 = 56.7 inches wide.
- 80 inch TV: 80 × 0.8716 = 69.7 inches wide.
Now the tops.
- HOOBRO, 47.2 inches, “fits TVs up to 55 inches.” 47.2 − 47.9 = −0.7 inches. A 55 inch TV is about 0.7 inches wider than the top. It can sit on a center pedestal foot or a narrow base, but not on feet at the edges. Check the TV’s foot spacing.
- GAZHOME, “up to 65 inches.” If the width is 58 inches, 58 − 56.7 = 1.3 inches spare, tight. If the width is 50 inches, 50 − 56.7 = −6.7 inches, and a 65 inch TV hangs over. The listing does not say which; ask the seller.
- 71 inch stand, “up to 80 inches.” 71 − 69.7 = 1.3 inches spare, again tight, and depends on whether the TV is on a center foot.
So the advertised TV size is only a rough guide. Always compute the width from the diagonal and compare it with the top, as above.
Weight check, using our assumption of a 55 pound TV. HOOBRO top 110 pounds is 2.0 times the TV, and the mesh shelf at 22 pounds holds a console and a cable box totaling 12 pounds at 55 percent of its limit. GAZHOME states 300 pounds for the top, which is 5.5 times. The 71 inch stand’s 100 pound TV limit is 1.8 times. These are the sellers’ claims.
Doors, drawers or open shelves
- Open shelves (GAZHOME): a remote works through open fronts and consoles get airflow. The listing says its 2-tier shelf stores CDs, gaming cards, media players and remote controls. The downside is that cables and boxes are visible.
- Drawers (HOOBRO): the listing says two non-woven drawers hold gaming gear, TV boxes, speakers and cables, and a metal mesh shelf is open. Non-woven fabric drawers are light and do not carry much; the page does not state a drawer load.
- Doors (71 inch): the listing says two cabinets, fluted swing doors and rear cord holes for cables, with open shelving that has 3-level adjustable heights. Solid doors can block an infrared remote, so plan to open them or use a repeater, and leave a gap for airflow around consoles.
Storage space itself is hard to compare, because the listings do not give interior sizes in the text we read. Ask for the interior width and height of the cabinet if you have a large console or a soundbar to fit.
Cables and power
The 71 inch stand lists rear cord holes, which are useful for a neat setup. The HOOBRO lists an LED light strip with multiple colors and modes, which does not affect storage but needs a plug. Plan your outlet position before you place any stand; a stand flush against the wall may block a socket.
What to put where
Think about weight and heat. The top carries the TV and, on a console, little else. A mesh or lower shelf is for equipment that needs air: a game console, a streaming box, a receiver. The HOOBRO’s mesh shelf is open and rated 22 pounds, which suits a console and a cable box but not a stack of heavy media. Closed cabinets are best for things that do not run hot or need a signal: discs, controllers, cables, board games, a basket of remotes. Drawers on a light stand should hold light things, because a drawer filled with heavy items pulls a 17.2 pound stand forward when it is open.
A simple rule is to keep the heaviest items lowest, put heat makers where air can move and put the things you handle daily at the front. If a cabinet has an adjustable shelf, as the 71 inch stand does with 3 heights, set it for your tallest item first, then fit the rest around it.
Setup and checks before loading
Assemble the stand where it will stay. The 71 inch stand lists numbered parts and recommends two people to assemble it, and the GAZHOME says 7 steps. Level the stand, using the adjustable feet the HOOBRO lists if the floor is uneven. Load the lower shelves first, then the TV last. Tighten the fasteners after the first month and check that doors close and drawers slide.
Tip-over and anchoring
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Anchor It! campaign is a public education campaign to prevent furniture and TV tip-overs from killing and seriously injuring children. A TV stand with drawers is a drawer-fronted piece, so keep the drawers closed when children are near. The HOOBRO listing says it includes an anti-tip device. The other two do not name one in the text we read, so look in the box and buy wall straps if needed. A light stand, like the HOOBRO at 17.2 pounds, is easy to move and also easy to tip.
Materials and care
All three are mostly composite: particleboard or MDF with a metal frame or solid wood legs. Composite wood products are covered by the EPA’s formaldehyde emission standards, and a compliance label may be present. The GAZHOME lists an ABS wood-grain finish over MDF. Dust with a dry cloth and wipe a spill quickly, because water at a board edge can cause swelling.
How to choose
- Look up your TV’s real width and foot spacing.
- Compare it with the stand’s top, and ask if the listing contradicts itself.
- Pick the storage type: open for remotes and airflow, drawers for small items, doors to hide everything.
- Check the shelf loads against what you will store.
- Anchor the stand and the TV.

The listings state 300 pounds on the GAZHOME top, 110 pounds on the HOOBRO top and 22 on its mesh shelf, and TVs up to 100 pounds on the 71 inch stand.
Is a 47 inch stand enough for a 55 inch TV?
Not by width: a 55 inch TV is about 47.9 inches wide by geometry.
Should I anchor a TV stand?
CPSC’s Anchor It! campaign is about preventing furniture and TV tip-overs; follow the maker’s anchoring instructions.
