A monitor stand with storage gives you two things on a small desk: a screen at a better height, and a place to tuck the keyboard, notebook or clutter underneath. The three we compared differ mainly in how they are built. The Simple Houseware riser states the clearest size (10.9 by 33.3 inches, extending to 45, and 5 inches tall), the Klearlook folds and adjusts in width, and the ROCDEER bamboo stand lists the highest weight limit (100 lb) but an unlabeled size. Height is the number that matters, so start with the tool below to find how much lift you need.

We have not tested these stands. Sizes, weight limits and features come from the Amazon listings, checked on September 29, 2026. Where a listing is unclear, we say so.

How much lift does your monitor need?

OSHA says the top of the monitor should be at or slightly below eye level, and the preferred distance from your eyes is 20 to 40 inches (OSHA monitor guidance). To find the lift you need, measure from your desk surface to your eyes while you sit, then compare it with the top of your screen. Enter three numbers below.

Monitor lift calculator

Measure while seated with your usual posture, in inches. The screen size is the diagonal from the spec, and the bottom height is from the desk to the bottom edge of the screen.

Assumes a 16:9 screen (height about 49 percent of the diagonal). Ultrawide screens are shorter. OSHA says the top of the screen should be at or slightly below eye level. This is a planning estimate.

    The three stands

Simple Houseware Desk Dual Monitor Stand Riser with Drawer (Oak)

    10.9″ D x 33.3″ W x 5″ H · extends to 45″ W

A low riser that extends from 33.3 to 45 inches wide, which the listing says suits two monitors or a laptop and a monitor. It has an organizer tray with six removable dividers, side caddies and a built-in phone and tablet holder.

    • Good for: two screens on a desk that is at least about 34 inches wide, with pens and small items in the tray.
    • Keep in mind: at 5 inches tall it lifts the screen modestly, and the listing text we read does not state a weight limit.

Klearlook Foldable Monitor Stand Riser with Storage Drawer

    Widths 16.5 / 18.5 / 20.5 in · 55 lb

A foldable riser with three adjustable widths, a storage drawer and a hidden tablet or phone holder. The listing says it has rubberized non-slip legs, a metal plate inside and a capacity of 55 lb, and describes it as suited to an ultrawide monitor, a printer or a laptop shelf.

    • Good for: a desk where you want a shelf you can fold flat and change in width.
    • Keep in mind: the text we read gives widths but not the height, so check the height on the product page before ordering.

ROCDEER Bamboo Monitor Stand Riser with Drawer

    23.63 x 7.88 x 4.53 in (as listed) · 100 lb

A bamboo riser with a top panel for a screen, a lower tier and a drawer. The listing says it holds up to 100 lb and fits most 24 to 32 inch monitors, curved displays, laptops or a printer, with room underneath for a keyboard up to 18 inches and a mouse up to 1.4 inches, a T-shaped cable slot and FSC-certified wood.

    • Good for: a single 24 to 32 inch monitor where you want a clean look and a keyboard tucked under.
    • Keep in mind: the listing gives one set of dimensions without labels, so confirm the width, depth and height first, and a low stand may lift the screen only a little.

    How to choose

    • Find the lift you need, using the tool above. If the top of your screen is already at your eye level, you do not need a riser.
    • Check the height, width and depth, not only the load. Two of these three listings did not give all three in a clear way.
    • Check the weight limit against the monitor plus anything stored on top.
    • Check the space under it. The keyboard, laptop or notebook you want to slide underneath must fit the gap, and a stand with a drawer has less clearance.
    • Depth on a small desk. A riser sits on the desk, so it takes depth from the keyboard zone. If depth is tight, a monitor arm frees the surface instead. See our monitor arm guide.

    Frequently asked questions

How high should a monitor stand be?

It should place the top of the screen at or slightly below your eye level, per OSHA. Use the tool above to find the lift you need.

Are monitor risers good for small desks?

They raise the screen and give storage underneath, but they take desk depth. A monitor arm may save more space.

How much weight can a monitor stand hold?

The three we compared list 55 lb, 100 lb, and one gives no limit in the text we read. Check the number against your monitor and the items on top.

Can a monitor stand hold two monitors?

Only if it is wide enough and rated for the combined weight. One of the three extends to 45 inches.

Do I need a riser if I use a laptop?

A laptop screen is usually too low. A stand plus a separate keyboard lets you raise the screen to eye level and keep your wrists straight.
