How to choose
Decide on the headboard. A spindle headboard is open and light; a tall solid one takes more wall. See king size headboard for sizes.
Measure the room with the headboard’s width. The Modway adds 4.5 inches on each side.
Ask for what is missing. Each listing leaves out something: the Modway a rating, the other two a size.
Check the slat support. A king mattress is large; our bed slats guide gives one maker’s rule that queen and larger beds need a center support that reaches the floor, and none of the three describes its center support in the text we read.
Nightstands and the headboard width
A wide headboard changes the nightstand arithmetic. Take a 144 inch (12 foot) wall, our example. The Modway Zane is 85 inches wide, and two 20 inch nightstands (an assumption) add 40 inches, for 125 inches in total. That leaves 144 minus 125, which is 19 inches, or 9.5 inches on each side if everything is centered.
