Quick answer
If your legs end in a flat square or round foot, stick-on pads such as the X-PROTECTOR (2 by 2 inches, 8 pieces) or GorillaPads (about 1 inch round, 32 pieces) fit. If your legs are rectangular tubes, caps like the 12 piece set, which fit a 1.55 by 0.75 inch rectangular end, slip over. Pads are a better answer to sliding; caps are a better answer to scratches and noise from bare tube ends.

X-PROTECTOR Non Slip Furniture Pads, 8 pcs, 2 inch
The page describes thick felt and soft rubber pads with a “tenacious adhesive” for hardwood and laminate floors. The table gives 2 by 2 by 0.28 inches and eight pieces. The material line lists felt, rubber, foam and plastic variants across the page’s options.
GorillaPads 1 Inch Non-Slip Furniture Pads, Set of 32
These are 0.98 by 0.98 by 0.12 inch rubber pads with heavy-duty self-adhesive, for hardwood, laminate, tile and other hard floors. Thirty-two pieces is the largest count of the three and the smallest pad.
Rectangular Rubber Furniture Leg Caps, 12 pcs
These PVC caps are 1.55 by 0.75 by 0.84 inches inside, made for rectangular leg ends of 40 by 20 millimeters, and the page says they reduce noise and protect floors. They only help if your leg is the same shape and size.
Worked example: how many do you need?
This is our own arithmetic. A frame with nine legs, such as the Amazon Basics 9-leg queen we use in other guides, needs nine feet.
| Product | Pieces per pack | Packs for 9 legs | Left over |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-PROTECTOR | 8 | 2 | 7 |
| GorillaPads | 32 | 1 | 23 |
| Leg caps | 12 | 1 | 3 |
If you also want feet on a nightstand and a dresser, GorillaPads cover the most pieces. A 1 inch pad under a 2 inch leg leaves part of the foot bare, which is a reason to measure the leg first and, if it is wider, use the 2 inch pad.
What the pages do not say
None of the three pages gives a load rating per pad. A bed with two sleepers and a 10 inch mattress is heavy, and pads can compress or slide. Some frame listings, such as the NKZ ones in 36 inch tall bed frame, say rubber feet are included, so check before buying. Other noise fixes are in non squeaky bed frame, and for rolling a bed see caster wheels for bed frame.
A worked scenario: stopping a bed from creeping
This is our own scenario. A queen frame on hardwood creeps toward the wall over a few weeks, and the owner wants to stop it. The frame has nine legs on a 79.5 by 59.5 inch footprint. Pads under the four outer corners resist the sliding that comes from turning over in bed, and pads under the center legs resist the sag. With the X-PROTECTOR pack of eight and one extra pack to reach nine, the owner uses two packs and has seven left; with GorillaPads, one pack covers all nine legs and leaves 23. The tradeoff is pad size: a 1 inch pad on a leg with a 2 inch foot covers a quarter of the foot’s area (1 x 1 over 2 x 2 = 25%), and a 2 inch pad covers all of it. Coverage decides how much the pad grips and how much floor it protects.
A worked scenario: quieting a metal frame on tile
Steel leg ends on tile make a click when the frame flexes. A cap or a pad stops the click by putting a soft material between steel and tile. For a rectangular leg of 40 by 20 millimeters, the cap listing fits it, with an inner size of 1.55 by 0.75 inches (about 39 by 19 mm). That is within a millimeter of the stated size, which is what a push-on cap needs; a cap that is much larger falls off, and one that is smaller will not go on. If your leg is round, a flat pad or a round cap is the right shape and the rectangular cap is not.
How to choose
- Measure the leg end. Use a ruler or calipers and write down width and depth, or diameter.
- Choose a form. Flat foot: a stick-on pad. Tube end: a cap.
- Check the floor. Hardwood and tile suit a rubber pad; carpet may need a wider foot that does not sink.
- Count the legs. Add a spare or two.
- Plan for the glue. Clean the foot with a damp cloth and let it dry before sticking a pad.
After you fit them
Push the bed gently side to side and listen. A frame that clicks may have a loose bolt and not a bare foot, so tighten the bolts at the same time. Recheck in a month: adhesive pads can slip, and caps can work off. If the bed has casters, see caster wheels for bed frame instead, and if the frame still creaks after the feet are fitted, non squeaky bed frame lists other fixes.
What the three pages tell us, and what they do not
The X-PROTECTOR page says its pads are felt and rubber and have strong adhesive. The GorillaPads page says its pads grip and protect hard floors. The cap page says its caps reduce noise and protect floors. None of them states a maximum load per pad, a temperature range or a lifespan. As an example, a 600 pound load on a nine-leg frame puts about 67 pounds on each leg if it is shared evenly (600 / 9 = 66.7), and more on a leg at a corner where a person sits. We cannot confirm a rating for any of the three, so we recommend asking.
Alternatives to pads and caps
Some frames already include rubber feet; the NKZ pages we read for 36 inch tall bed frame say the legs come with rubber feet. For a bed that must not move at all, a few frames have a wall bracket, and for a bed on carpet a wider foot spreads the load. If the floor is soft, the cure for sliding is often a rug pad under the whole bed, which is a different product from the three here.
If you are unsure which form you need, take one leg to a ruler and note whether the end is flat, rounded or open. A flat end takes a pad, an open tube takes a cap, and a rounded end may need a cup, a form we did not read here.
Mistakes to avoid
Skipping the measurement. A cap that is too small will not fit; a pad that is too small will not cover the foot.
Forgetting the count. Eight pads do not cover nine legs.
Putting adhesive pads on a dusty leg. Clean the foot first.
Using pads on a bed you plan to roll. Pads grip; casters roll.
