Quick answer
A bedroom chair for a small space has to earn its floor area. Armless chairs save width, a boneless foam chair needs no assembly and a butterfly chair folds, and each trades something away. The checks are the footprint, the seat size and height, the weight rating and whether the chair suits sitting for a long time or only for a pile of laundry.
We read three Amazon listings on 2026-10-02: the Trenda 32 inch armless boneless accent chair (ASIN B0DXQ266F5), the Lexicon button-tufted curved back armless accent chair (B0DWM8CM63) and the Linon butterfly lily chair (B00L97CB00). They are examples of what to compare, not a ranking. We have not tested or sat in any of them, and we do not show prices; check the current price on Amazon. Every listing figure comes from the listings; the corner and weight examples are assumed.

Footprint
The Trenda chair is 34.6 inches deep, 32.3 wide and 28 high, which is about 34.6 × 32.3 ≈ 1,118 square inches, or 7.8 square feet. The Lexicon chair is 28 inches deep, 26 wide and 29.5 high, about 28 × 26 = 728 square inches, 5.1 square feet. The Linon butterfly chair is 21.5 inches wide, 29.5 deep and 31.5 high, about 21.5 × 29.5 ≈ 634 square inches, 4.4 square feet, though the listing’s own fields swap width and depth.
So the butterfly chair is the smallest on the floor and the boneless foam chair is the largest, even though it is the lowest. As a rule of thumb, a chair in a bedroom needs about 18 to 24 inches of clearance in front so you can stand up and pass, which is not a published standard.
A sizing example
Your bedroom corner is 36 inches by 36 inches, with the bed along one wall. The Lexicon at 26 by 28 inches fits, leaving 10 inches on one side and 8 inches on the other, which is tight to pass. The Linon at 21.5 by 29.5 leaves 14.5 inches on one side and 6.5 on the other. The Trenda at 32.3 by 34.6 inches leaves 3.7 and 1.4 inches, so it essentially fills the corner. If your corner is smaller than the chair, you are better off with a stool or an ottoman.
Seat size
The Trenda listing says a 32 inch seat width, which the seller compares with 26 to 29 inches of usable width in a traditional chair with arms. The Lexicon listing gives a seat width of 25 inches, a seat depth of 19.5 inches and a seat height of 18 inches, with a leg height of 12 inches. The Linon listing gives a seat height of 31.5 inches and a seat depth of 29.5 inches in its detail fields, which look like the overall height and depth, so they are not usable.
A 25 inch seat is comfortable for one person, and a 32 inch seat lets you sit sideways or cross-legged. A butterfly chair’s sling seat is deep and low, and that is how it is meant to feel. If you want a chair you can get up from easily, check the seat height; a low foam chair can be hard to rise from, which is a general observation and not a claim from the listings.
Weight rating
The Trenda listing says 350 pounds, with a wide base and anti-tipping design. The Lexicon listing says 300 pounds. The Linon listing says a maximum of 275 pounds.
For example, a 200 pound adult on a 275 pound rating has 75 pounds of headroom, 27 percent. On 300 pounds it is 100 pounds, 33 percent, and on 350 it is 150 pounds, about 43 percent. A chair that people sit on and throw clothes on needs margin, and these are the sellers’ figures.
Weight of the chair
The Linon weighs 21.3 pounds and the Lexicon 24.5 pounds. The Trenda weight was not recorded, though the listing says it is a compact, tool-free chair. A light chair is easy to move to vacuum, and a very light one can slide.
Boneless, tufted or butterfly
The Trenda is a boneless chair: its listing says 100 percent foam with no metal or wooden frame, dual-density foam support, a faux fur cover and an anti-slip base, and arrives ready to use with no assembly. The Lexicon is a button-tufted armless chair with a curved backrest, a high-density foam cushion and espresso rubberwood legs, with a 1-year limited warranty. The Linon is a butterfly lily chair: a folding frame of eucalyptus and hardwoods with a linen sling seat and back and a foam fill.
A boneless chair is soft and has no frame to squeak. A tufted armless chair looks like furniture and sits upright. A butterfly chair is light and casual, and the sling can stretch. Think about how you will use it.
Assembly and moving
The Trenda needs no assembly. The Lexicon listing says step-by-step instructions, hardware and tools are included. The Linon says assembly required. A boneless chair is bulky to carry, since it is a single foam block, though it is light.
Cleaning
The Trenda has a faux fur cover, which the listing describes as cozy and which can hold dust and pet hair. The Lexicon is textured fabric. The Linon is linen. None of the listings we read says the cover is removable, so spot-clean carefully.
The three listings we read
Trenda 32″ Armless Accent Chair, Boneless Space-Saving Reading Chair (ASIN B0DXQ266F5). The listing gives 34.6 by 32.3 by 28 inches, a 32 inch seat width, a 350 pound rating, an all-foam boneless build and no assembly. Good for: the widest seat and the highest rating. Keep in mind: it is the biggest footprint and it is low. The page showed an Add to Cart button.
Lexicon Accent Chair, Button Tufted Curved Back Armless Chair, Dark Gray (ASIN B0DWM8CM63). The listing gives 26 by 28 by 29.5 inches, a seat of 25 by 19.5 inches, a seat height of 18 inches, a weight of 24.5 pounds, a 300 pound rating and a 1-year limited warranty. Good for: clear measurements and a normal seat height. Keep in mind: no arms and a mid-height back. The page showed an Add to Cart button.
Linon Butterfly Lily Chair, Dark Espresso Linen (ASIN B00L97CB00). The listing gives 21.5 by 29.5 by 31.5 inches, a weight of 21.3 pounds, a 275 pound rating, a eucalyptus and hardwood frame and a linen sling with foam fill. Good for: the smallest footprint and the lightest build. Keep in mind: the listing’s dimension fields are inconsistent and the rating is the lowest. The page showed an Add to Cart button.
Using the chair day to day
Think about what the chair will actually do. If it will hold clothes at night and nothing else, a light butterfly chair or a boneless chair is enough, and a tufted chair is a bonus. If you will read or work in it, check the seat height and the back support, because a low, soft chair is relaxing for twenty minutes and tiring for two hours. If a child or a guest will use the room, think about how the chair feels to get out of. Place the chair away from a heater or a radiator, since foam and fabric dislike direct heat, and away from the door swing. A rug under the chair protects the floor and keeps the chair from creeping, and a small side table gives you somewhere for a lamp or a drink without adding another chair’s worth of floor area.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not buy by looks without measuring the corner. Do not trust a “seat height” that equals the overall height. Do not forget the clearance to stand up. And do not expect a very low chair to be easy to get out of.
Who should skip a bedroom chair
If your room is under about 9 by 9 feet, a stool or an ottoman may be enough. If you want to work at a desk, a desk chair is better. If you have back problems, a chair with a firm back is better than a floppy one.
A compact chair still needs its own swing or pull-out clearance
The fit calculator linked above checks a chair’s footprint and surrounding walking space, which covers the chair sitting still; worth adding is clearance for actually using the chair, such as a door swinging past it, a closet door needing to open, or simply pulling the chair out from a corner to sit down. A compact bedroom chair chosen specifically for its small footprint can still end up in the way if positioned where a door or drawer needs to swing through that same space. Check the chair’s position against every door and drawer path in the room, not just static floor space, before finalizing where a small chair goes.
Frequently asked questions
How big is a small bedroom chair?
The three we read are 4.4 to 7.8 square feet on the floor.
How much weight can a small chair hold?
The listings say 350, 300 and 275 pounds. Those are the sellers’ figures.
What is a boneless chair?
A chair made of foam with no frame. The Trenda listing says 100 percent foam.
Do I need to assemble it?
The Trenda needs none. The Lexicon and Linon need assembly.
Is a butterfly chair comfortable?
It is low and slung. Many people like it for casual sitting; check the rating and your hips.
Bottom line
Choose bedroom chairs for small spaces by footprint, seat height, weight rating and how you will use them. Of the three listings, the Trenda is the wide, 350 pound foam chair with the biggest footprint, the Lexicon is the 26 inch tufted armless chair with the clearest seat sizes and the Linon is the smallest, lightest butterfly chair with the lowest rating. Measure the corner and the clearance first.
