Adjustable armrest searches return two different products. Chair armrests bolt onto a chair and need matching mounting-hole spacing; desk armrests clamp to a desk edge and need the right desk thickness. Frassie (B0FY23RWY9) lists mounting hole spacing of 2.1 in by 2.3 in and a 200 lb maximum. Shengyue (B0FX94ZBM4) is a four-hole chair armrest pair listed at 112 lb. JOY worker (B0CYPVLK5X) clamps onto desks 0 to 3.7 in thick and lists 11 lb. The weight ratings belong to different jobs and should not be compared directly. Figures come from Amazon listings read October 8 and 9, 2026.

Two kinds of armrest, and what each needs to fit

Chair armrests replace or add arms on a chair. They only work if the chair has mounting points. Before you order, measure the spacing between the mounting holes on the underside of the seat or frame, because the listing’s pattern must match it. Two of the listings in this group are chair armrests sold as pairs.

Desk armrests do not touch the chair. They clamp to the desk edge or sit on top of it and give your forearm a pad to rest on. They need a desk thickness inside the listed range and an edge that is not sloped or bowed. Three listings are desk supports, and their load ratings are low because they only carry the weight of a resting forearm.

We left out three other listings from the same search results because they are not chair or desk armrests: a pair of car armrests (B0H7BX1WSG), a car console armrest box (B0948X57ZV) and a tattoo armrest stand (B0D7CK6CJK). A car armrest does not fit an office chair, and the tattoo stand is a different kind of equipment. If your problem is arm support on a chair you already own, you may also want chair adjustable armrest and ergonomic chair with adjustable arms. For wrist and mouse comfort without a chair change, see armrest for mouse.

Worked example: two fit checks

Check 1: chair mounting holes. Say you measure the holes on your chair as 55 mm across and 58 mm up and down.

  • Convert to inches: 55 mm divided by 25.4 is 2.17 in, and 58 mm divided by 25.4 is 2.28 in.
  • The Frassie listing gives 2.1 in horizontal and 2.3 in vertical.
  • The horizontal gap is 0.07 in (2.17 minus 2.1) and the vertical gap is 0.02 in (2.3 minus 2.28).

Those differences are small, but the listing gives no tolerance. Ask the seller whether a 0.07 in difference is acceptable before you buy.

Check 2: desk thickness. Say your desk edge is 1.2 in thick.

  • inheming lists a desk thickness of 0.5 to 1.5 in, so 1.2 in fits with 0.3 in spare (1.5 minus 1.2).
  • JOY worker lists 0 to 3.7 in, so 1.2 in fits with 2.5 in spare (3.7 minus 1.2).
  • If your desk is 2 in thick, inheming does not fit (2 minus 1.5 is 0.5 in over) but JOY worker does.

Neither listing tells you whether the clamp works on a glass desk, a bowed edge or a curved top, so check your own desk before ordering.

The chair armrests

1. Frassie Height Adjustable Chair Armrest Pair (B0FY23RWY9)

Pros:

  • Sold as a pair, with mounting screws and a wrench.
  • A one-button fold-down, which the listing says folds flat when not in use.
  • Gives mounting hole spacing: 2.1 in horizontal and 2.3 in vertical.
  • A listed maximum weight of 200 lb.

Cons:

  • The listed height range of 13.5 to 15.9 in is 2.4 in, but a bullet says 2.75 in (7 cm). The two figures do not match.
  • The listing tells you to measure your chair’s hole spacing first. If the spacing does not match, the armrest will not fit.
  • The nylon frame is listed in the spec, but the spec also lists “Fabric” as the seat material, which does not describe an armrest. Check the pad material on the product page.

Skip it if your chair’s holes do not match 2.1 x 2.3 in.

2. Shengyue Height Adjustable Chair Armrest Pair (B0FX94ZBM4)

Pros:

  • A four-hole mounting pattern with an outer size of 3.18 x 1.77 in.
  • A front-to-back pad slide.
  • A listed weight rating of 112 lb.

Cons:

  • A bullet says “4 inch height adjustment”, but the range shown (11.92 to 15 in) is about 3.08 in.
  • The spec “Number of Items: 1″ conflicts with the bullet that says the set is two armrests.
  • Only the outer size is given, not the hole spacing, so you cannot check the pattern against your chair.

Skip it if you cannot confirm the four-hole pattern on your chair.

The desk armrests

3. JOY worker Clamp-On Adjustable Armrest (B0CYPVLK5X)

Pros:

  • No drilling: a C-clamp mounts it to the desk.
  • Bullets say the clamp fits desks from 0 to 3.7 in thick.
  • Six preset heights, up to 2.8 in above the desktop, with 360-degree rotation.
  • A listed weight rating of 11 lb.

Cons:

  • The bullets say it is not suitable for desks with a protruding edge or a significant slope.
  • A bullet claims it “relieves 90% of the weight” from the elbows. That is the seller’s claim and the listing gives no test source.
  • It is a desk support, not a chair armrest, and it does not replace arms on a chair.

Skip it if your desk has a protruding edge or slope, or you need to rest your full arm weight.

4. inheming Desk Armrest Extender (B083J8XW9Z)

Pros:

  • Bullets list a desk thickness of 0.5 to 1.5 in.
  • Rotates 180 degrees, per the bullets.
  • A memory foam pad covered in faux leather, at a listed 0.36 kg (about 0.8 lb).

Cons:

  • No weight rating is stated.
  • The bullets describe it as portable and easy to carry in a briefcase, which is a different use from a chair armrest.
  • Dimensions appear in both centimeters and inches. Use the inch figures (11.4 x 5.1 in).

Skip it if your desk is thicker than 1.5 in.

5. Ktueowv Desk Armrest Extender (B0G6SFZF3V)

Pros:

  • A punch-free design, per the listing, so no drilling.
  • Plastic and lightweight, listed at 10.63 x 5.32 in.

Cons:

  • No weight rating, height range or desk thickness is stated.
  • The bullets describe arm soreness and chronic pain relief. Those are claims the listing does not support with data.
  • The size field reads “1Pcs” and gives no usable measurement.

Skip it if you need a weight or fit spec before you buy.

Who should skip this kind of armrest

  • Anyone whose chair has no mounting holes and no way to add them. Check the chair’s construction first.
  • Anyone who needs to rest full arm weight on a desk clamp. The listed ratings for desk products are low.
  • Anyone with a desk that has a protruding edge or a sloped top. The JOY worker listing says it will not fit those.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Comparing a chair armrest’s rating with a desk clamp’s rating. The 200 lb and 112 lb figures belong to arms that carry the weight of your arm when you push up from the chair. The 11 lb figure belongs to a pad that carries a resting forearm. They do not measure the same job.
  • Ordering before measuring hole spacing. A chair armrest that does not match the holes will not fit, and the listing may not accept returns on opened hardware.
  • Treating “adjustable” as a range. Frassie and Shengyue both list ranges, but the bullet and the range disagree on both. Use the stated range and confirm it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which chair armrest fits my chair?

Measure the hole spacing on your chair and compare it with the listing. Frassie gives 2.1 x 2.3 in. If your chair has no holes at the seat edge, a bolt-on armrest will not fit.

Are desk clamp armrests safe on a glass desk?

The listings do not address glass tops. Check the clamp’s contact area and your desk’s edge thickness before you use one.

Why do car armrests show up in these results?

The search matches the word “armrest” across categories. Car armrests use different mounts and are not interchangeable with office chairs.

What weight should I plan for?

Use the listed ratings only, and only within the same type: 200 lb (Frassie) and 112 lb (Shengyue) for chair arms, and 11 lb (JOY worker) for a desk clamp. Two of the five listings do not state a weight rating. If you need a chair that already has arms, see office chair with or without arms.
