Decide first whether you need a fold-down shower seat or a dry folding stool, because that choice sets the weight rating, the mounting and how you clean it. A wall-mounted seat folds up when nobody is using it, so it frees floor space in a small room. The catch is that the same phrase covers two different products. Most listings in our set are fold-down shower seats, usually in teak or phenolic, with stainless steel brackets. One is a dry folding stool for an entry.

The listings we read holds six listings, with dimensions and specs taken from Amazon on 2026-10-09. We have not tested any of these seats or installed them.
- Fold-down shower seat with the highest listed limit: Durtschi (B0CNQZRHW6) and the unbranded teak seat (B0DGR9T2X9) both state 400 or 440 pounds; the Stardrix (B0DY7QWJRR) states 400 pounds with a phenolic top.
- Dry hallway or entry stool that folds: the Geelin listing (B0G2C3DZ8J) states a 330-pound capacity and folds to about 2.5 inches thick.
- If the listing’s accessibility claim matters to you: the Stardrix listing says it meets ADA requirements. We have not verified that claim. Read the manufacturer’s installation and compliance documents, and check local code.
What “wall-mounted” means in these listings
A wall-mounted seat fixes to studs or to a rail through the wall. Three listings give a mounting detail: Durtschi says its bracket has 16-inch screw spacing to fit standard studs; koretech’s bullets mention a stainless steel mounting rail; Stardrix says it comes with mounting hardware. The Geelin listing says it comes with hardware and step-by-step instructions. None of the listings in our set says how much wall to hit or what anchors to use for a non-stud wall, so ask the seller or the manufacturer before you mount anything.
Comparison table (listed numbers only)
| Product (ASIN) | Use per listing | Material | Listed size (unfolded) | Folded thickness | Listed weight limit | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stardrix phenolic (B0DY7QWJRR) | Shower (ADA claim) | Phenolic seat, stainless frame | 18 in long x 16 in wide, 13.4 in high | Not stated | 400 lb | View on Amazon |
| Durtschi teak (B0CNQZRHW6) | Shower | Dark teak and 304 stainless steel | 20 in seat (title); dimension field 10.4 x 15.9 x 10.4 in | Not stated | 400 lb | View on Amazon |
| koretech teak (B0GWDGJ4Q7) | Shower | 80% teak, 20% stainless steel | 17 in x 12 in x 10 in | About 2 in | Title says 450 lb; specs do not state it | |
| Unbranded teak with legs (B0DGR9T2X9) | Shower | Teak and stainless steel | 20 in x 15 in seat (per bullets); dimension field 15 x 20 x 17 in | Depth about 4 in (per bullets) | 440 lb (per bullets) | |
| Geelin folding stool (B0G2C3DZ8J) | Dry, entry or hallway | Solid wood | Unfolded 27.17 in long x 13.78 in wide | 2.36 in or 2.56 in (listing conflicts) | 330 lb | View on Amazon |
Notes on the table. The Durtschi dimension field and the 20-inch title do not describe the same thing: the title says the seat is 20 inches, and the dimension field lists a 10.4-inch height, which we read as the folded size. The koretech title and the spec table disagree on seat depth (12 inches in the dimension field, 13 inches in specs). The unbranded listing shows no brand, and its dimension field and bullets describe the seat in different ways. The Geelin folded thickness is 2.56 inches in the dimension field and 2.36 inches in the bullet.
Product notes: pros and cons
Stardrix (B0DY7QWJRR). Pros: a white phenolic top that the listing describes as waterproof and easy to clean, a 304-grade stainless frame, a listed 400-pound limit, and a seat depth of 16 inches. Cons: the weight limit depends on proper installation, the listing does not state a seat height, and the ADA claim is the seller’s, not one we verified.
Durtschi (B0CNQZRHW6). Pros: teak with stainless steel, a 400-pound limit, and a mounting bracket the listing describes as having 16-inch screw spacing to fit standard studs. Cons: the teak grain and shade vary by piece (the listing says so), the dimension field is hard to read, and the listing does not state the folded depth.
koretech (B0GWDGJ4Q7). Pros: 80 percent teak and 20 percent stainless steel, a folded thickness of about 2 inches (per the bullet), and a stainless steel mounting rail. Cons: the title says 450 pounds, but the spec table does not state a weight limit. The seat depth conflicts between the dimension field and the specs.
Unbranded teak with legs (B0DGR9T2X9). Pros: a 440-pound limit in the bullet and a seat of about 20 by 15 inches. Cons: no brand is shown, the dimensions are unclear, and the listing describes legs, so it may not be a wall-only seat. Ask the seller how it mounts.
Geelin folding stool (B0G2C3DZ8J). Pros: a 330-pound capacity, a folded depth of about 2.5 inches, and hardware and instructions included. It is for dry use in a hallway or entry. Cons: it is a small wooden seat, not a shower seat, and its folded-height figures conflict. The listing describes it as suitable for offices and commercial spaces, which may not suit a home entry.
Worked example: a 36 in wide shower and a 36 in hallway
- Projection when unfolded. In a 36 in wide shower, Stardrix at 16 in deep leaves 20 in (36 minus 16). In a 36 in hallway, Geelin unfolded is 13.78 in wide and leaves 22.22 in (36 minus 13.78).
- Folded thickness. koretech folds to about 2 in and Geelin to 2.36 or 2.56 in, a 0.2 in difference between its own figures. Stardrix, Durtschi and the unbranded teak seat state no folded depth in the fields we read.
- Studs. Durtschi’s bracket has 16 in screw spacing, so it fits studs 16 in apart. Check where the studs are in your wall before you buy.
- Weight. A 250 lb adult is 150 lb under the 400 lb listed for Stardrix and Durtschi and 80 lb under Geelin’s 330 lb. The listings give their limits for correct installation, so confirm with the manufacturer. This guide does not give safety or code advice.
Mistakes to avoid
- Trusting a weight limit without the wall. The listings state their limits for correct installation. A seat screwed into plaster or a hollow wall will not carry the figure on the page.
- Counting the ADA line as proof. Stardrix says its seat meets ADA requirements, but that is the seller’s claim. Read the manufacturer’s documents and check your local rules.
- Buying the legs version for a wall-only space. The unbranded teak listing describes legs, so ask how it mounts before you drill.
- Using a hallway stool as a bench. Geelin’s folded seat is a short stool for changing shoes. It holds no shoes and seats one person.
Who should skip a wall-mounted seat
- If you need a seat in a wet shower and do not have studs where you want to mount, a fold-down seat may not fit your wall. Ask a qualified installer.
- If you need a bench with a long seat for two people, a folding seat is a poor choice. The shower listings here are 17 to 20 inches long.
- If you need a bench that stores shoes, none of these listings is a storage bench.
Buying checklist
- Decide wet or dry use. A fold-down shower seat and a hallway stool are not interchangeable.
- Find the wall type and study locations before you buy.
- Check the weight limit in the specs, the title and the bullets. If they disagree, use the lowest number.
- Confirm the folded size and the wall space it needs.
- Read the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and check whether the seat is for wet use before mounting it near a shower.

Frequently asked questions
Does the listing say the seat is ADA compliant?
The Stardrix listing says so, but this is the seller’s claim. We have not verified it, and this guide is not a compliance assessment. Read the manufacturer’s documents and check local rules.
What is the highest weight limit in this set?
The listings state 400 pounds (Durtschi, Stardrix) and 440 pounds in the bullet for the unbranded teak seat. koretech’s title says 450 pounds. The Geelin stool states 330 pounds. Confirm the limit in the manufacturer’s documents, because the listing gives its limit “when properly installed.”
Can a folding stool replace a bench in a hallway?
It can for short use, such as changing shoes. It is not a long bench and does not hold shoes. The Geelin listing is also described for offices and commercial spaces, which may not suit a home.
Is teak or phenolic better for a shower seat?
Three of the five listings use teak. The Durtschi listing says teak feels warmer than a cold plastic seat. The Stardrix listing uses phenolic, and says it resists scratches, chemicals and wear better than teak or wood. Neither is better for every bathroom. Check the care instructions for the material you choose.
