Measure first
A cushion that is too big bunches at the arms; one that is too small slides and leaves gaps. Take four measurements:
- Seat width across the front, between the arms or the side rails.
- Seat depth from the back slats to the front edge.
- Back height from the seat up to where you want the cushion to end.
- Back width across the slats.
As our own planning estimate, subtract about an inch from the seat width and depth if the chair has arms or a curved seat, so the cushion sits clear of the sides. That is a rule of thumb and not a standard, so check your own chair.
Sizes on the listings
The SINOSSO and BUYUE sets both list a seat cushion of 17 by 17 by 3 inches and a back cushion of 21.6 by 17 by 2 inches. The Sweet Home Collection listing gives 21 inches long by 17 inches wide, a thickness of 2 inches and a size of “2 piece set” without separating the seat and back.
Notice that SINOSSO and BUYUE give identical sizes and nearly the same wording, and that their listed weights differ slightly (3.59 and 3.67 pounds). They may be the same product under two brand names, or two similar products. Either way, you should not assume that two brands are two different cushions.
A worked example with invented numbers. Your rocking chair seat is 18.5 inches wide at the front and 17 inches deep. A 17 by 17 inch seat cushion fits the depth exactly and leaves 18.5 − 17 = 1.5 inches of bare seat across the front. Your back slats are 19 inches wide and 24 inches tall. A 21.6 by 17 inch back cushion is 21.6 − 19 = 2.6 inches wider than the slats and 24 − 21.6 = 2.4 inches shorter than the back, so it will overhang slightly at the sides and leave the top of the back bare. If the 21.6 inch side is the cushion’s height, the numbers change, so check which way the listing means.
Thickness
The SINOSSO and BUYUE seat pads are 3 inches thick and the back pads are 2 inches, in the listing text. The Sweet Home Collection set gives a thickness of 2 inches. Thick pads feel plush at first and can compress to half their height after months, which is a general property of polyester fill and not a figure from the listings.
Thickness changes the chair. A 3 inch seat pad raises your seat by up to 3 inches and, if the pad compresses unevenly, tilts you forward. On a low rocker, this can make it harder to stand. On a tall rocker, it can make the arms feel low.
Grip and ties
A cushion on a rocker has to stay put as the chair tilts. The Sweet Home Collection listing says the seat cushion has a non-slip backing and the back cushion has ties. The SINOSSO listing says silicone dots on the underside of the seat cushion and four ties. The BUYUE listing says a silicone anti-slip bottom and ties.
Ties are fiddly but work on slatted backs. They may not work on a solid or curved back. If your rocker has a solid wood back, check whether the ties have something to tie to. Silicone dots grip wood well and may leave marks on a finished surface, which is our general expectation and not a statement from the listings.
Fill and cover
All three listings give a polyester fill. The Sweet Home Collection cover is velvet, with a “100% poly fiber fill” and a PVC non-slip backing. The SINOSSO and BUYUE covers are woven polyester that the listings call breathable, with machine-washable cushions in the SINOSSO listing. The BUYUE listing also gives a pH value of 6.1 and a formaldehyde figure for the fabric, which are seller claims that we have not verified.
Velvet looks richer and shows marks. Woven fabric hides marks and wears well. A cover you can wash is useful on a chair used every day, and the Sweet Home Collection listing says spot clean, so read the care line before you buy.

The three sets we read are for indoor chairs. The BUYUE listing says it is “perfectly fit for the indoor rocking chair”. The search page also had outdoor sets that call themselves waterproof and fade-resistant, but we did not open them for this guide. If your rocker lives on a porch, look for a cushion that says outdoor and check the fabric claim.
