Quick answer
A leather chaise lounge chair is a long chair that supports your legs as well as your back, usually in leather or a leather-look fabric. Before buying, check four things: the length (for your height), the seat height (chaises sit low), the floor space and doorway width the piece needs, and the material words on the listing, because “leather” can mean genuine leather, microfiber leather or a synthetic.
We read three Amazon listings on 2026-09-30: a 62 inch tufted chaise in microfiber faux leather, a compact chaise chair that says genuine leather and a reproduction of a classic tubular steel chaise in leather. They show how different the category is. We have not tested or sat on any of them. All numbers come from the listings.
If you want a single armchair for sitting, see accent chairs and sofa chair. If you want a recliner, see recliners. For a convertible seat that becomes a bed, see convertible sleeper chair.
What a chaise lounge chair is
The word chaise means a long chair. Sellers use it for three kinds of furniture. One is a long sofa-like chair with a raised back and headrest, meant for reclining. Another is a compact chair with a deep seat and a slanted back that invites you to lean. A third is a classic frame chaise, often a tubular steel base with a cushion on a long curved seat.
They differ in how much floor they need and in how they feel. Decide whether you want a piece for lying down, for reading with your feet up or for decoration.
Length and your height
The length is the first number to check. The EDLME tufted chaise is 62.2 inches long, and the reproduction chaise is 61 inches long. The compact EDLME chair is 34.3 inches deep, so it is a chair and not a full-length chaise.
A simple check is to compare your height with the length. A person who is 70 inches tall (5 feet 10 inches) would have 70 − 62.2 = 7.8 inches of body beyond a 62.2 inch chaise if they lay flat, so most people bend their knees or rest their feet on the arm.
Seat height and getting up
Chaises sit low. The tufted EDLME listing gives a seat height of 14 inches, and the compact EDLME listing gives 15 inches. A seat that low is comfortable to lounge in but harder to stand up from, especially with stiff knees or a bad back.
If you need help standing, a higher seat is easier, and a lift chair is a different product. As our own rough rule, a seat near the height of the back of your knee is easiest to rise from, and 14 to 15 inches is well below that for most adults.
Material words
The listings use different words, and the differences matter.
The compact EDLME chaise says “genuine leather” in a bullet and lists leather as the material. The tufted EDLME chaise says “microfiber leather” and “faux leather” in the specification, which is synthetic. The reproduction chaise lists leather in its specification and names pony leather in its title, but the page gives no other detail.
If you want real leather, look for the words genuine leather and ask what part is leather, because a seat or a cover may be leather and the rest another material. If you want an easy-care look, a microfiber leather is a reasonable choice.
Frame and cushion
The tufted EDLME chaise uses an engineered wood frame with foam and polyester fill and a five-star base. The compact EDLME chaise uses a wood frame and foam fill. The reproduction chaise uses a stainless steel frame and foam fill with a separate cushion.
A steel frame has a slim profile, while a wood frame is bulkier. A chaise with a cushion on a steel frame can feel firm.
Weight rating
The listings give 250 pounds for the tufted chaise and 300 pounds for the compact chaise. The reproduction listing gives no rating in the text we read. The figures are the sellers’ and we have not verified them.
Floor space and doorways
A 62 inch chaise is long, so check the door width and the route from the door to the room. The tufted chaise is 62.2 inches long and 29.92 inches wide, and its listed weight is 100 pounds. The compact EDLME chair needs no assembly and weighs 62 pounds. The reproduction chaise weighs 44 pounds and includes assembly instructions.
Leave space to walk around it. The U.S. Access Board’s accessible-route guidance uses 36 inches as a minimum clear width for a route and 32 inches at short points such as doorways. That rule is for public buildings, but it is a useful yardstick for the floor around a large piece.
Reproductions
The reproduction listing names its product “Le Corbusier Style LC4 Chaise Lounge Chair Reproduction.” The word reproduction means a copy of a classic design, not a product from the original maker. We did not see a statement about licensing on the page. If authenticity matters to you, check the seller and what is claimed.
The three listings we read
EDLME Black Tufted Chaise Lounge, 62 inch, curved faux leather reclining chair (model v3e). The listing gives 62.2 by 29.92 by 28.35 inches (W by D by H), a seat height of 14 inches, a listed weight of 100 pounds, a 250 pound maximum recommendation, an engineered wood frame, deep button tufting, microfiber leather upholstery, a lumbar pillow and a padded headrest. Good for: a living room or bedroom where you want a full-length chaise with a headrest. Keep in mind: a 14 inch seat is low, and the material is faux leather. The page showed an Add to Cart button and the message “only 20 left in stock,” which can change.
EDLME Solid Wood Wabi-Sabi Nordic Vintage Leather Chaise Lounge (model EDL-CHAIR-593). The listing gives 30.7 by 34.3 by 28 inches (W by D by H), a seat depth of 23.3 inches, a seat height of 15 inches, a listed weight of 62 pounds, a 300 pound maximum recommendation, genuine leather seating on a wood frame and no assembly. Good for: a reading corner where a compact leather chair with a low, deep seat is wanted. Keep in mind: it is a chair and not a full-length chaise, and the listing does not say which parts are leather. The page showed an Add to Cart button and the message “only 10 left in stock,” which can change.
HuPoFun Le Corbusier Style LC4 Chaise Lounge Chair Reproduction, brown and white pony leather (model HPF-005-WBRCL). The listing gives 61 by 22 by 25 inches, a listed weight of 44 pounds, a stainless steel frame, foam fill, a leather cover and included assembly instructions. Good for: a design-minded buyer who wants the tubular steel chaise look. Keep in mind: the listing shows a seat depth of 0 inches and an item count of 100, which are errors, and it gives no weight rating. The page showed no Add to Cart button, and its availability line was blank.
A worked example
These numbers are invented. A person is 70 inches tall (5 feet 10 inches) and their knee height with shoes is 19 inches. A reading corner is 84 inches long by 60 inches wide.
Length. The tufted chaise at 62.2 inches leaves 84 − 62.2 = 21.8 inches along the wall, enough for a side table. The reproduction at 61 inches leaves 23 inches.
Width. The tufted chaise is 29.92 inches deep, so across the 60 inch corner it leaves 60 − 29.92 = 30.08 inches, which is 5.92 inches short of the 36 inch yardstick if someone walks past it. The compact EDLME at 34.3 inches deep leaves 25.7 inches.
Seat height. The person’s knee height is 19 inches. The tufted chaise seat is 14 inches, which is 19 − 14 = 5 inches lower, and the compact EDLME at 15 inches is 4 inches lower. Both are low enough to need a push to stand up.
Lying down. The person is 70 inches tall, and the tufted chaise is 62.2 inches, so they would need to bend their knees or let their feet rest on the arm, since 70 − 62.2 = 7.8 inches extends beyond it.
Weight. A 240 pound person is under the tufted chaise’s 250 pounds by 10 pounds and under the compact chair’s 300 pounds by 60 pounds.
Red flags in listings
A title that says leather while the specification says faux, a size line that gives a seat depth of 0 inches, an item count of 100 for a single chair and a reproduction sold without a statement of what that means are signs to read carefully. Also check whether “genuine leather” describes the whole cover or only a part.
Who should skip a leather chaise
If you run warm, leather and faux leather can feel hot and sticky. If getting up from a low seat is hard, choose a higher chair. If your room is small, a 62 inch chaise may dominate it. A smaller accent chair and an ottoman can do the same job.
Frequently asked questions
Is a leather chaise lounge chair real leather?
Not always. One listing we read says genuine leather, another says microfiber leather and faux leather. Read the specification.
How long is a chaise lounge chair?
The full-length ones we read are 61 to 62.2 inches. The compact chair is 34.3 inches deep.
How high is the seat?
Low: 14 to 15 inches in the listings we read. That is comfortable for lounging and harder to stand from.
What is a reproduction chaise?
A copy of a classic design, sold by a different maker. The listing we read says reproduction in its title.
Does a chaise lounge fit in a small room?
A 62 inch piece needs about 5 feet of wall and space to walk around. Measure before you order.
Bottom line
Choose a leather chaise lounge chair by length, seat height and the material words. Of the three listings above, the EDLME tufted chaise is the full-length faux leather piece, the compact EDLME is the genuine leather chair with a low seat and the reproduction LC4 is the steel frame chaise that most needs a question to the seller. Check what kind of leather you are buying and how low the seat sits.
