A clothes hamper takes floor space in a bathroom, bedroom or closet corner, so size and shape matter as much as capacity. We compare three hampers in detail, then look at five more that suit tight spots, and list the other listings we checked. We have not tested any of them. The details come from the Amazon listings as we read them in October 2026, so check the product page for current information.
Quick answer
For a tight corner, the SONGMICS 65 L hamper has the smallest footprint of the three main picks (1.25 sq ft) and a lid. For the biggest single bin on wheels, the StorageWorks 160 L is the one, though its listing does not mention a lid. For sorting at the hamper, the 195 L three-section hamper has three compartments and three removable inner bags, but it is 32.6 inches long. Only the SONGMICS states a load limit, 33 lb.

The three main hampers in detail
195L Laundry Hamper, 3 Section, with lid (32.6 x 12.6 x 29.1 inches)
What it is: A black polyester sorting hamper with three compartments, three removable inner bags, eight supporting rods and a lid. The listing says it folds flat, weighs 2.54 kg and takes about a minute to assemble. It suggests using the sections to separate darks from lights or clothes from toys.
Who it suits: Someone who sorts laundry at the hamper and has about 33 inches of wall.
Pros
- 195 L split into three compartments with removable bags
- Collapsible, with a lid to hide the contents
- Light for its size at 2.54 kg
Cons
- Largest footprint of the three, 2.85 sq ft, and long and shallow at 32.6 by 12.6 inches
- No weight limit is stated for the frame or bags
- Each section holds only a share of the 195 L
Skip it if: You only have a narrow corner.

StorageWorks 160L Laundry Basket with Wheels (18 x 18 x 31 inches)
What it is: A beige rolling hamper of 160 liters (42 gallons) with a metal frame, fabric body, soft handle and 360 degree silent wheels, weighing 3.2 kg. It has one compartment. The listing says instructions and tools are included, and a video is available online. It does not mention a lid.
Who it suits: A household that moves laundry from the bedroom to the washer and wants one big bin on wheels.
Pros
- Rolls to the washer without lifting
- 160 L, which is 95 liters more than the SONGMICS
- Metal frame, with instructions and tools included
Cons
- No lid is mentioned
- Footprint of 2.25 sq ft is 1.00 sq ft more than the SONGMICS
- No load limit is stated
Skip it if: You want a lid, or have a very small corner.

SONGMICS Laundry Hamper with Lid, 65 L synthetic rattan (13.4 x 13.4 x 23.6 inches)
What it is: A 17.2 gallon (65 L) hamper in goose yellow, model ULCB165N01, made of PP plastic rattan on a metal tube frame. It has a removable, machine-washable cotton liner with two handles and a lid that opens with one hand. It weighs 6.8 pounds, folds for storage, and the listing says it holds up to 33 lb.
Who it suits: A small bathroom or bedroom corner where a lid and a washable liner matter.
Pros
- Smallest footprint of the three at 1.25 sq ft
- One-hand lid and a removable, washable liner
- The only one of the three that states a load limit, 33 lb
Cons
- Smallest capacity at 65 L, so more trips for a big household
- Heavier than the three-section hamper, at 6.8 pounds
- 33 lb is a modest limit for wet towels
Skip it if: You wash for a large household in one go.

Five more hampers for tight spaces
These five are not part of the three-way comparison above. They are listed because they are slim, or offer a different layout. Capacity per square foot is simple arithmetic from the listed liters and size.
efluky Slim Laundry Basket, collapsible (15.5 x 7.5 x 23 inches)
A narrow collapsible basket with handles, about 116 sq in of floor, the narrowest here. The text we read gives no capacity, and a collapsible bag has no lid unless the listing says so. Good for a gap beside a door or in a closet.

SpaceAid Slim Laundry Hamper with Lid, 65 L (16 x 8 x 28 inches)
A slim hamper with a lid and bamboo handles, about 128 sq in of floor. At 65 L over about 0.89 sq ft, that is roughly 73 L per sq ft, the highest of the seven hampers here with a listed capacity and size, by our arithmetic. It is 28 inches tall, so check the clearance above it.

SETVSON Laundry Hamper with Lid, 112 L rattan wicker (22.4 x 13 x 28 inches)
A 112 L handwoven rattan wicker hamper with a lid and two removable liners, which suits a household that separates lights and darks. It takes about 292 sq in of floor, around 55 L per sq ft.

SONGMICS Laundry Hamper with Lid, 130 L double wicker (26 x 13 x 23.6 inches)
A 130 L double wicker basket with a lid. It is 26 inches long and takes about 338 sq in of floor, around 55 L per sq ft, so it needs wall length rather than a corner.

Laundry Hamper with Lid, 150 L rolling, grey (19.7 x 15.8 x 29.5 inches)
A 150 L rolling hamper with a lid and wheels, in grey. It is the tallest here at 29.5 inches and takes about 311 sq in of floor, around 69 L per sq ft. Wheels can roll on a slope, so park it on a level floor.

Buying checklist
- Floor space and shape. The three main hampers are 1.25, 2.25 and 2.85 sq ft. The three-section hamper is long and shallow, so measure the wall length as well as the depth.
- Capacity per floor area. Divide the liters by square feet of floor. Among the seven hampers with a listed capacity and size, it runs from about 52 to 73 L per sq ft.
- Sorting. Only the three-section hamper and the SETVSON (two liners) are set up for separating loads.
- Lid. A lid hides laundry and smells. The StorageWorks listing does not mention one.
- Moving it. Wheels, handles or a folding frame make the trip to the washer easier.
- Load. Only the SONGMICS 65 L states a limit, 33 lb.

Frequently asked questions
Which of these clothes hampers has the biggest capacity?
The three-section hamper is listed at 195 liters, split into three compartments with three removable inner bags. The StorageWorks is 160 liters (42 gallons) in one compartment. The SONGMICS is 65 L, or 17.2 gallons.
Which one has a lid?
The three-section hamper lists a lid that hides the laundry, and the SONGMICS lists a lid that opens with one hand. The StorageWorks listing does not mention a lid, but it rolls on 360 degree silent wheels.
Which one is best for a small space?
The SONGMICS has the smallest footprint at 13.4 by 13.4 inches, or 1.25 sq ft. The StorageWorks is 2.25 sq ft and the three-section hamper is 2.85 sq ft.
Can I wash the liner or bags?
The SONGMICS lists a removable cotton liner that is machine-washable. The three-section hamper lists three removable inner bags but gives no wash instructions. The StorageWorks listing does not describe a liner.
What is the most common laundry hamper size?
Among the 36 listings we gathered with a three-number size, five are about 17 by 13 inches on the first two listed sides. Heights range from 1 to 39.4 inches, so check the height as well.
Which hamper gives the most capacity for the floor space?
Among the seven hampers with a listed capacity and size, the slim SpaceAid gives about 73 liters per square foot, against about 52 for the square SONGMICS. This is simple arithmetic from the listed liters and sizes.
Final note
Start with where the hamper will stand. A corner points to the SONGMICS or a slim model, a wall points to the three-section hamper, and a long walk to the washer points to a rolling bin. Confirm size, capacity and price on Amazon before you order.
