Quick answer

If you want something you can fold away every morning, the VEVOR four-panel screen (136.4 inches wide, 72.4 inches high, iron frame, Oxford fabric) is the biggest of the three. If you want no floor footprint, the JILRON curtain kit hangs between walls on adjustable brackets (35 to 100 inches wide, 43 to 120 inches high) and the curtain is 100 by 84 inches on the table. If you only need to block one sightline, the RANTILA single panel is 71 by 71 inches and lightweight. None of these pages claims to stop sound; they separate by sight.

VEVOR Room Divider, 4 Panel, 136″ W, Grey

The page lists 136.4 by 72.4 inches and a 20.4 inch figure that is the depth when the screen is zigzagged. The bullets say the fabric is upgraded Oxford cloth described as sturdy and waterproof, with an iron frame, and that each panel is about 34 inches wide, which matches 136.4 divided by four. A comparison strip on the page lists the same line in 3, 6 and 8 panels. It is meant for bedrooms, offices and hospitals and folds for storage.

JILRON No-Drill Room Divider Curtain Set

This is a kit: a black curtain plus adjustable pole brackets that hold by tension between walls, with a stated adjustable range of 35 to 100 inches wide and 43 to 120 inches high. The title says the curtain is 106 inches wide while the table says 100, so ask which is true before you measure. The page lists 5.5 kilograms and says the setup is temporary and needs no tools or drilling.

RANTILA Single Large Panel Room Divider

One panel of 71 by 71 inches in black, high-density polyethylene fabric on a steel frame, UV-protected and described as easy to wipe. The comparison strip shows 3 and 4 panel versions in beige and grey. One panel stands on its feet and does not fold into an L, so it separates in a single line.

Worked example: two twin beds in one room

This is our own arithmetic and an example room. Two children share a room 10 by 12 feet (120 by 144 inches). Each twin bed is 38 by 74 inches by the Amerisleep size chart we opened, and the beds sit head to the 144 inch wall side by side.

ItemCalculationResult
Beds side by side38 + 3876 in of the 144 in wall
Wall left over144 – 7668 in
VEVOR panel width136.4 / 434.1 in per panel
Panels needed to span the 74 in bed length74 / 34.12.2, so 3 panels
Three-panel zigzag footprint3 x 34.1 = 102.3 in unfoldedFits the 120 in room width

Three of the VEVOR’s four panels would run the 74 inch length of a bed with a little angle, leaving the fourth to fold back as a return at the foot. The same room with the JILRON curtain would hang across the 120 inch width, which is beyond the brackets’ 100 inch maximum, so the curtain would need a shorter span or a wall-to-bed hanging. That is a reminder to measure the span first.

Choosing

For a room that must be one room again in the morning: the folding screen. For the smallest footprint: the curtain, if you have two walls within 100 inches. For one sightline, such as a desk or a bed corner: the single panel. If you want shelves in the divider, see room partition shelves, and for a ceiling-hung option see curtain bed divider.

Questions to ask the seller before you order

  1. Is the JILRON curtain 100 or 106 inches wide?
  2. What is the item weight and folded size of the VEVOR and the RANTILA?
  3. How stable is each on carpet, and do the feet have a non-slip base?
  4. What does the fabric do to sound? None of the pages states a rating.
  5. Can the curtain or the screen cover the full height from floor to the ceiling in your room?

After it arrives

Set the screen up where it will stand before you unpack everything else, and stand it with its panels at a slight zigzag, since a straight line tips more easily. Press the tension brackets against the walls and check they hold by hanging the curtain and giving it a gentle tug. Keep the divider away from a heater or a candle, since fabric dividers are not described as flame retardant on these pages.

A second worked scenario: a studio with a bed and a desk

This is our own arithmetic and an example studio of 12 by 15 feet (144 by 180 inches, 180 square feet). A queen bed is 60 by 80 inches by the Amerisleep chart, or 33.3 square feet. A desk of 48 by 24 inches is 8 square feet. The renter wants to hide the bed from the desk. A divider of 72 inches high between them blocks a standing person’s view of the bed.

RANTILA single panel71 in wideOne line only, 11 in wider than the bed

In a 144 inch wide room the wall-to-wall span exceeds the 100 inch maximum for the tension brackets, so the curtain would need to hang from the bed’s side wall to a fixed post. The folding screen has no such limit. The single panel at 71 inches stands alone but takes up the same floor depth as a person’s shoe length in its feet.

How to read these listings critically

The first thing to look at on a divider page is the size line, then the number of panels and the bullet text. On the VEVOR page the size and panel width agree. On the JILRON page the title says a 106 inch curtain and the table says 100, a six inch difference that could matter on a tight span. On the RANTILA page the comparison strip shows other panel counts in the same listing, so make sure you choose the single-panel option. Weight is rarely given: only the JILRON page states one (5.5 kilograms), and that weight includes the brackets. When a page omits weight, assume the divider is light enough to carry but not light enough to be knocked over by a push, and ask.

Other ideas that do not need a product

A bookshelf placed at an angle can divide a bed from a living space and hold books, but it must be anchored; see shelves as a room divider. A rug can mark the sleeping zone without any vertical barrier. A change of wall colour can make the zone feel separate. A tall plant in a floor planter softens a line without blocking light. We mention these only because a divider is not always the answer: if the goal is to give a shared bedroom a sense of two spaces, a curtain on a bed frame, a canopy or a bunk bed may do more than a screen. See curtain bed divider for the ceiling-track version.

Care and everyday use

Fabric dividers collect dust at the top edge. Run a handheld vacuum along the top once a month. If the divider is in a child’s room, keep it clear of cords and curtains, and do not let children climb the panels. A tension-rod curtain should be checked every few weeks, since a loose bracket can fall when a child pulls on the curtain.

Mistakes to avoid

Assuming a divider blocks noise. These separate by sight.

Measuring the width but not the ceiling. Tension brackets work between two surfaces that can take pressure.

Trusting the title width. The JILRON page shows two numbers.

Setting a screen in a straight line. A zigzag is more stable.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest way to separate two beds?

We do not compare prices. In terms of parts, a single panel is the simplest.

Can a divider make a room private?

It blocks sight. The pages do not claim to block sound.

Will a tension rod damage walls?

The page says it needs no drilling. Press marks on soft paint are possible; check your lease.

How tall should a bed divider be?

The three here are 71 to 84 inches. Choose one taller than the sleeper’s eye level when standing.

Can I use a divider in a hospital or care setting?

The VEVOR page lists hospitals among its uses. Check the facility’s rules.
