A makeup vanity is a small table with a mirror, lights and storage, built for sitting down to get ready. Most listings include a stool, a lighted mirror and a power strip, and most are sold flat-pack. Four numbers decide fit: width against the wall, depth plus stool pull-out against the walkway, total height with the mirror and weight against how you will move it.

We read three on Amazon on 2026-10-01: a small white desk with mirror, lights and stool, a 55 inch wide unit with 8 drawers, and a 46.85 inch unit with 7 drawers and a tall mirror. We have not tested any of them. Every figure comes from the listings, and where a listing contradicts itself we say so.
Three listings, side by side
| Listing | Size (W x D x H) | Weight | Drawers | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| White Makeup Vanity Desk with Mirror and Lights, with Chair (small space) | bullets 31 x 17.7 x 30 in; table 40 x 19.7 x 30 in | 32 lb | 4 | 2 sockets, 2 USB |
| Ieejdn 55″ Makeup Vanity Desk with Mirror and Lights | 55.1 x 15.8 x 55.1 in | 52 lb | 8 | 2 sockets, 1 USB, 1 USB-C, 4.9 ft cord |

The small white desk contradicts itself. The bullets say it measures 31 by 17.7 by 30 inches, and the table says 19.7 deep by 40 wide by 30 high. The listing says its size is “31 with mirror” and that item depth is 17.7 inches. One reading is that the desk itself is 31 wide and 40 inches is the footprint with the stool or a side pocket; the page does not say. Ask the seller or plan around the larger number. It lists a seat height of 15.7 inches and a stool rated for 250 pounds. The Ieejdn lists a glass top and RGB cabinet lighting. The Arulvmrn lists a 35.12 inch lighted mirror, 3 light modes, and a hidden two-layer shelf with a glass door.
Width: does it fit the alcove?
Say the wall space is 52 inches wide between a window and a closet door. Subtract each width:
- Small desk, taking the larger 40 inch figure: 52 − 40 = 12 inches spare. At 31 inches: 21 spare.
- Arulvmrn: 52 − 46.85 = 5.15 inches spare, tight but workable.
- Ieejdn: 52 − 55.1 = −3.1 inches. It does not fit.
Leave at least an inch each side for a baseboard or trim, so the Arulvmrn is close to its limit.
A worked example: depth and the stool
The vanity is only part of the floor. You also need room to pull the stool out and sit. In a bedroom that is 100 inches deep from the vanity wall to the opposite wall, with a bed 60 inches wide at the foot:
- Small desk, 19.7 inches deep: 19.7 + 24 = 43.7 inches of floor needed from the wall. Then 100 − 43.7 = 56.3 inches left for the route and the bed, which clears 30.
- Ieejdn, 15.8 inches deep: 15.8 + 24 = 39.8 inches. 100 − 39.8 = 60.2 inches left.
- Arulvmrn, 15.75 inches deep: 15.75 + 24 = 39.75 inches. 100 − 39.75 = 60.25 inches left.
All three clear in a 100 inch room. In an 80 inch deep room, the small desk leaves 80 − 43.7 = 36.3 inches, which still clears 30, but a 24 inch pull-out might hit the bed. Tape the footprint on the floor before you buy.
Mirror height and lighting
Taller mirrors give a full face view standing or sitting. The two large units are 55.1 and 56.69 inches high overall, and the Arulvmrn lists a 35.12 inch mirror. The small desk is 30 inches high overall, mirror included, so its mirror is small. All three list adjustable lighting: the small desk lists warm, natural and cold light with brightness adjustment by long-pressing the screen, the Ieejdn lists 3 LED colors that are natural, warm and cool, and the Arulvmrn lists warm yellow, warm white and cold white. A listing’s color options do not tell you how bright the light is. We did not find a brightness figure in the text we read.
Placing the vanity near a window gives daylight, but the mirror’s reflection may glare in the afternoon. Position the lights so they do not shine into your eyes.
Power strips and heat tools
Each listing describes a built-in power strip. These are meant for lights and chargers. If you plan to plug in a hair dryer or a curling iron, read the strip’s rating label and the appliance’s label, and do not chain a second strip onto it. Keep the cord clear of drawers so it is not pinched. The cord on the Ieejdn is listed at 4.9 feet, so check that it reaches the wall outlet without a separate extension.
Stability and anchoring
Tall mirrors on a shallow base can tip. Height divided by depth is our rough indicator: Ieejdn 55.1 ÷ 15.8 = 3.5, Arulvmrn 56.69 ÷ 15.75 = 3.6, small desk 30 ÷ 17.7 = 1.7. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Anchor It! campaign advises anchoring furniture to prevent tip-overs. None of the three listings names anchoring hardware in the text we read, so buy wall straps if the unit is taller than it is deep by more than about 2.5 times and children or pets are around.
Materials, moisture and care
All three are engineered wood. The Ieejdn and Arulvmrn listings call the MDF scratch-resistant and moisture-resistant and say to wipe with a damp cloth. Composite wood products, including MDF, are covered by the EPA’s formaldehyde emission standards, and a label may be present. Makeup spills and nail polish remover can mark a laminate, so wipe quickly and use a mat for products.
Storage: what the drawers and shelves tell you
Drawer count is a marketing number until you know the sizes. The small desk lists 4 drawers, which the bullets break into 2 large fabric drawers, 2 small tabletop drawers, a side pocket and hooks. The Ieejdn lists 8 drawers, and the Arulvmrn lists 7 drawers, 3 open shelves and a two-layer hidden shelf behind a glass door. For makeup the useful number is shallow, divided space: a drawer with trays holds brushes and palettes, while a deep drawer swallows them. Fabric drawers on the small desk are light but do not hold their shape under heavy bottles. Ball-bearing slides, which the Ieejdn and Arulvmrn list, glide better than plain runners. Count what you own, in piles, before you count drawers.
Stool and posture
The stool matters as much as the table. The small desk lists a seat height of 15.7 inches and a stool rated for 250 pounds, upholstered with high-density foam, and its table gives the seat as faux leather on metal. That seat is low. Whether the table surface suits you depends on your height, so measure the distance from the floor to your elbows when seated and compare it with the table height. A common mismatch is a table that is too high for a low stool, which forces the shoulders up. If you are buying a set without a listed table height, ask for it, or use an adjustable chair you already own. See also the posture guidance in our guide to desk height, which applies to a vanity used for long sessions.
Assembly and moving
Flat-pack vanities take an hour or two and a second person for the mirror. The 52 pound units are a two-person carry up stairs. Tighten the fasteners after the first month. The Ieejdn listing says it ships in a foam shock-absorbing box.
How to choose
- Measure the wall width and subtract each vanity’s width.
- Add 24 inches to the depth for the stool and check the walking route.
- Pick the mirror height you need, sitting and standing.
- Check the power strip against what you will plug in.
- Anchor tall units.

Frequently asked questions
How wide is a makeup vanity?
The three here run about 31 to 55 inches. Measure your wall first.
How much room does the stool need?
About 24 inches to pull out and sit, by our estimate.
Can I use a hair dryer with the built-in power strip?
Read the strip’s rating and the appliance’s label. The listings describe the strips for lights and chargers; none states a wattage in the text we read.
Do makeup vanities need anchoring?
CPSC advises anchoring furniture to prevent tip-overs. The tall units are the main case.
What mirror lighting is best?
Listings offer warm, natural and cool light. Which you prefer is personal; none of the three gives a brightness figure.
