A worked example

These numbers are invented. You have a table 72 inches long and 30 inches high, with three chairs on each long side.

Width. Three round-back chairs take 66.72 inches, leaving 72 − 66.72 = 5.28 inches. Three OLIXIS chairs take 68.49 inches, leaving 3.51 inches. Three wingback chairs take 70.86 inches, leaving 72 − 70.86 = 1.14 inches, so they would touch.

Shorter table. On a 60 inch table, even the round-back chairs need 66.72 inches for three, which is 66.72 − 60 = 6.72 inches more than the side has. So three per side does not work, and two per side with one at each end seats six.

Seat height. The gap from seat to tabletop is 30 − 19.29 = 10.71 inches and 30 − 19.09 = 10.91 inches.

Weight. A 260 pound person is 260 − 250 = 10 pounds over the round-back rating, and 300 − 260 = 40 pounds under the wingback’s.
