The upper bound of the space is 20 times 59.5 times 79.5, which is 94,605 cubic inches, or 54.7 cubic feet when you divide by 1,728. Legs and cross bars take some of it, so you will fit less. The frame itself takes 24 minus 20, which is 4 inches of the height.
For comparison, the 12 inch queen frames in our queen bed with platform guide give 6.25 to 10.4 inches of clearance, which is 17.1 to 28.5 cubic feet by the same method. The 24 inch frame gives about 3.2 times the space of the 6.25 inch one (54.7 divided by 17.1).
Worked example: floor space for drawers
Side drawers need room to open. The FinerFurnis listing, which has the same dimensions and weight as the IDEALHOUSE listing below, describes two side-mounted drawers, one on each side. Say a drawer pulls out 20 inches (our assumption; no listing states it). The bed is 61.42 inches wide. In a 10 by 10 foot room (120 inches wide) the bed centered on a wall leaves (120 minus 61.42) divided by 2, which is 29.3 inches on each side. A 20 inch drawer pulled out leaves 9.3 inches to stand in. If you push the bed against a side wall, you give up one drawer or a walkway. Measure your room, then ask for the drawer’s pull-out length.

Ask for numbers. For drawers, ask for inside width, depth and height and the pull-out length.

Check the drawers when they arrive, too: they should slide without catching, and you should be able to open them fully with the bed in its final place, as in the floor-space example above.
Before you order, write down the clearance or drawer sizes you need and compare them with the listing’s numbers, not its photos. A bin that is 12 inches wide and 6 inches tall fits an open space of 20 inches easily, and a drawer of unknown size may not take it at all.
Mistakes to avoid
Counting drawers as capacity. “Four drawers” is not a volume.
Ignoring the pull-out. A drawer that cannot open fully stores less.
Trusting an odd weight. A 40 pound four-drawer bed in the table needs a question to the seller.
