Quick answer
A power lift recliner is a recliner with a motor that raises the seat and tips you forward, so you can stand with less effort. Most also recline by motor. They are bulky, heavy and sold in sizes, so the useful checks are seat height, seat depth, seat width, the weight rating and the floor space the chair needs.
We read three Amazon listings on 2026-10-01: the MCombo power lift recliner R7289 in Medium-Wide (ASIN B0CJ5PJ9FS), the MCombo oversized dual motor R7891 in Large-Wide (B0HB387WCX) and the GarveeHome power lift recliner with heat and massage (B0FNMZMW7T). They are examples of what to compare, not a ranking. We have not tested or sat in any of them, and we do not show prices; check the current price on Amazon. Every number comes from the listings.
This is shopping information, not medical advice. If you are buying for someone with a mobility condition, ask their clinician or therapist about the type of lift and the right seat height. For recliners without a lift, see recliners, double recliner and rocker recliner.
How a lift chair differs from a recliner
A normal recliner moves the back and the footrest. A lift recliner adds a motor in the base that raises the whole seat and tilts it forward. That is the feature you are paying for. It also means a power cord, a plug point and a heavy base, so you cannot slide it around easily. The listings put weights between 112 and 152.5 pounds.
Two motor types appear. A single motor moves the back and the footrest together. A dual motor moves them separately, which gives more positions. The MCombo R7891 listing says “dual motor infinite position” and “lay flat”; the other two listings we read did not state the motor count in the parts we recorded.
Seat height and seat depth
Seat height decides whether you can stand up and sit down easily. The MCombo R7289 listing gives a seat height of 19.1 inches and the R7891 gives 20.3 inches. The GarveeHome listing did not give a seat height in the part we recorded.
Seat depth is how far the seat reaches from back to front. The R7289 gives 21 inches, the R7891 gives 21.6 inches and the GarveeHome gives 22.8 inches. A shorter person may find a deep seat leaves the feet in the air or the knees too far from the seat edge. As our own planning estimate, not a standard, leave a small gap between the seat edge and the back of your knee. Measure your own thigh length against the seat depth.
Size and floor space
The size fields are the messiest part of these listings. The MCombo R7891 gives 37.4 inches deep by 37.8 wide by 47.6 high, which is the most consistent set we found. Its footprint is 37.4 × 37.8 = 1,413.7 square inches, about 9.8 square feet. The MCombo R7289 gives 29.5 by 26 by 19.1 inches in one field, which looks like the seat or a folded size, and a chair backrest width of 38.6 inches. The GarveeHome gives 29 by 25 by 20 inches in one field and “38.6 x 37.4 x 40.6 in” in a bullet.
When fields conflict, we have not used them as the real room size. A recliner needs more room when it reclines or lifts than when it is upright, and none of the three listings we read states the length when fully reclined. Ask the seller for the reclined length and the clearance needed behind the chair. As a planning estimate, measure the room with the chair fully reclined, not upright, and add space for the power cord and the remote.
Weight rating
The MCombo R7289 and R7891 both list a 350 pound maximum. The GarveeHome lists 400 pounds. These are the sellers’ figures and we have not verified them.
A worked example with invented numbers. A user of 260 pounds on a 350 pound rating has 350 − 260 = 90 pounds of headroom, which is 90 ÷ 350 ≈ 25.7 percent of the rating. On the 400 pound GarveeHome the headroom is 140 pounds. If two people sit at once, or a person holds a heavy load, the headroom shrinks, so check whether the rating is for one person.
Weight of the chair itself
The R7289 weighs 139.3 pounds, the R7891 weighs 152.5 pounds and the GarveeHome weighs 112 pounds. That is heavy for a doorway or stairs. Check the width of your door and any turns before ordering, and ask whether the chair arrives assembled or in parts, because the listing’s weight is the packed weight in some cases.
Upholstery and features
The R7289 listing gives faux leather over a wood frame and foam fill, with a 2 year manufacturer warranty and cup holders. The R7891 listing mentions full body vibration with 8 points, one lumbar heating point, a zero gravity position, a cup holder and a USB charging port. The GarveeHome listing mentions heat and massage, PU leather, a remote control and a pillow-top arm style with an arm pad included.
Heat and massage are extras that add parts that can fail. If you do not want them, check whether a plain version is sold, and whether the remote can be replaced.
Power and safety
The recliner needs a wall outlet near it. Cord management, a surge protector and a way to keep the cord from being a trip hazard are all your responsibility. The listings do not describe a battery backup. If the power fails with the chair reclined, a user may not be able to sit up without a backup, so ask the seller.
The three listings we read
MCombo Power Lift Recliner Chair, Leather R7289, Medium-Wide (ASIN B0CJ5PJ9FS). The listing gives a 350 pound maximum, a 139.3 pound weight, a seat height of 19.1 inches, a seat depth of 21 inches, a backrest width of 38.6 inches, a wood frame, faux leather and a 2 year manufacturer warranty. Good for: a medium-wide size with a stated seat height and warranty. Keep in mind: the 29.5 by 26 by 19.1 inch field is not the full size. The page showed no Add to Cart button from our location, and Amazon said the item could not be shipped to our address, which is a delivery-location result; check the page from your own address.
MCombo Oversized Dual Motor Power Lift Recliner Chair R7891, Large-Wide (ASIN B0HB387WCX). The listing gives 37.4 by 37.8 by 47.6 inches, a 350 pound maximum, a 152.5 pound weight, a seat height of 20.3 inches, a seat depth of 21.6 inches, a dual motor, zero gravity, vibration, lumbar heat, a cup holder and a USB port. Good for: a larger frame with separate back and footrest movement. Keep in mind: it is the heaviest and needs the most floor. The page showed no Add to Cart button from our location for the same delivery reason.
GarveeHome Power Lift Recliner Chair with Heat and Massage, PU Leather (ASIN B0FNMZMW7T). The listing gives a 400 pound maximum, a 112 pound weight, a seat depth of 22.8 inches, a seat width of 22 to 26 inches depending on the version and an included arm pad. Good for: the highest weight rating and the lightest chair. Keep in mind: the size fields conflict (29 by 25 by 20 inches against 38.6 by 37.4 by 40.6 inches in a bullet) and no seat height was recorded. The page showed an Add to Cart button.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not buy by the upright size alone, because a reclined chair needs more room. Do not skip the door width. Do not assume a higher weight rating makes a chair fit you; seat depth and height matter just as much. And do not forget the outlet.
Who should skip a power lift recliner
If you can stand from a normal recliner without help, a lift motor adds weight and a cord for no gain. If your room is small, a smaller recliner may do; see small recliners for small spaces if it is live. If you need a medical lift for transfers, a lift recliner from a retail listing is not a substitute for equipment chosen with a professional.
Frequently asked questions
What is a power lift recliner?
A recliner with a motor that raises the seat and tips you forward to help you stand. Most also recline by motor.
How much weight can a lift recliner hold?
The three listings we read give 350, 350 and 400 pounds. Those are the sellers’ figures.
How much room does a lift recliner need?
More than its upright size, because it reclines. Of the three listings we read, one gives 37.4 by 37.8 inches, and none gives the reclined length.
Is a dual motor better?
A dual motor moves the back and the footrest separately, which gives more positions. It adds cost and a part that can fail.
Do they need to be plugged in?
Yes. Check where the outlet is and whether the chair has a backup.
Bottom line
Choose a power lift recliner by seat height, seat depth, the weight rating and the room it needs when reclined. Of the three listings, the MCombo R7289 is the medium-wide one with a stated seat height, the R7891 is the large dual motor chair with the biggest footprint and the GarveeHome has the highest weight rating but conflicting size fields. Ask the seller for the numbers the page leaves out.
