Quick answer
For a leather couch in a small room, decide the size first and the leather second. A two-seat couch of about 58 inches fits a short wall that a 78 or 81.5 inch couch would swamp. Then run a sanity check on the listing, because two of the three couches we read on Amazon on 2026-09-30 list their dimensions in a way that looks reversed.
We have not tested any of these couches. All sizes and materials come from the listings, and we say so when a field looks wrong. For a guide to genuine, bonded and faux leather, see leather sofa; for the room-fit method used here, see sofas and sectionals.
Two seats or three?
The seat count is easier to judge from the width than from the word on the product. Among the couches below, the Corland two-seater is 58.5 inches wide, the KEIKI two-seater is 78 inches wide, and the HULALA three-seater is 81.5 inches wide. A “loveseat” at 78 inches is only 3.5 inches narrower than the three-seater, so read the width and not the label. The gap between the narrowest and the widest is 23 inches, which decides whether a couch fits between a door and a window.
A leather couch also shows more of its shape than a fabric one does. The surface is smooth, so a bulky arm or a deep seat stands out. If the room is small, favor a slim arm, which gives more seat for the same width. The HULALA listing gives a 7 inch arm width on an 81.5 inch body; subtract two arms (14 in) and the seating span is 67.5 inches, which matches the listing’s 67.25 inch interior width within 0.25 inch.
Sanity-check the dimension fields
Amazon tables often swap or copy numbers. A quick check takes a minute:
- Compare the title size with the table width. If the title says 78 inches and the table says width 42, the fields are probably swapped.
- Ask whether the depth makes sense. A 78 inch deep couch would be longer than a twin mattress (38 x 75 in in Amerisleep’s chart), so 78 cannot be the depth of a loveseat.
- Compare “seat depth” with “overall depth”. If they match, one was probably copied.
- Compare the arm height with the overall height. If they match, the height is probably the arm.
Worked example with the KEIKI 78 inch loveseat: the title says 78 and the table says “78 in D x 42 in W x 31.5 in H”. Under the test, 78 is the width and 42 is the depth. The Modway Corland loveseat shows the same pattern: the table says “58.5 in D x 32 in W x 33.5 in H”, and it lists 58.5 in as the seat depth, which cannot be right for a two-seater. Read as a width of 58.5 and a depth of 32, the couch is plausible.
These are our readings of the fields, not facts the seller confirmed. Before you buy, look for the dimensions in the photos or the bullets, or ask the seller.
Fit it on a short wall
Take an 8 ft (96 in) wall. Subtract the couch width and see what is left for an end table and a gap.
- Corland loveseat, read as 58.5 in wide: 96 − 58.5 = 37.5 in.
- KEIKI loveseat, read as 78 in wide: 96 − 78 = 18 in.
- HULALA three-seater, 81.5 in wide: 96 − 81.5 = 14.5 in.
If you want a 16 inch end table (our assumption) on one side, only the Corland leaves real room: 37.5 − 16 = 21.5 in spare, against 2 in for the KEIKI and a shortfall of 1.5 in for the HULALA (14.5 − 16 = −1.5). For a wide selection of tables see end tables for living room.
Depth is the other half. The OROA guide suggests 14 to 18 inches between a sofa and a coffee table and 30 to 36 inches for main walkways. Assume a 10 ft (120 in) room and a 16 inch gap, a 24 inch table and a 30 inch walkway (16 + 24 + 30 = 70 in, our assumptions). Then the room depth left for the couch is 120 − 70 = 50 in. The Corland at 32 in fits with 18 in to spare, the HULALA at 31.5 in fits with 18.5 in to spare, and the KEIKI at 42 in fits with 8 in to spare.
Three leather couches read on 2026-09-30
Modway EEI-6020-TAN Corland Leather Loveseat, Tan. The bullets say it is upholstered in premium top-grain leather on a plywood frame with a spring support system and a center support leg, with dense foam seat cushions, and that it ships in a box. The table lists 69 lb and 33.5 in high, with 58.5 and 32 inches as the two other sides. Good for a short wall and an apartment. Keep in mind: the dimension labels look reversed, as explained above, and the listing names top-grain leather without saying whether every surface is covered in it, so ask which parts are leather.
HULALA HOME 81.5″ W Faux Leather Chesterfield Sofa Couch with Button-Tufted Backrest. The table gives 31.5 x 81.5 x 28.75 in (D x W x H), 96.8 lb, a 23.5 in seat depth and a 19.75 in seat height. The bullets describe button tufting, nailhead trim, solid wood legs and a smooth PU upholstery. Good for a traditional look at three-seat width. Keep in mind: the listing calls the upholstery PU, which is not hide, and the arm height equals the overall height in the table (28.75 in), so check the actual back height.
KEIKI 78″ Oversized Faux Leather Loveseat with Deep Seat for Bedroom, White. The bullets describe a deep, two-person seat, stain-resistant faux leather, high-density foam and two pillows. The table reads 78 x 42 x 31.5 in and 69 lb. Good for a deep lounging seat in a bedroom or apartment. Keep in mind: the table looks swapped, and the listing gives no seat depth, so the real depth is unknown.
Leather, faux leather and bonded: a two-minute recap
The three couches use three different materials: top-grain leather on the Corland, PU on the HULALA and faux leather on the KEIKI. Leather Honey describes top grain as the top layer of hide, sanded or treated for a smooth finish, and slightly less durable than full grain. It describes bonded leather as a mix of leather scraps and polyurethane that tends to crack and peel over time. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s leather guides say a product should not be called simply “leather” unless it is leather in all substantial parts. Those guides list items such as luggage and footwear and do not name furniture, so they are a yardstick, not a sofa rule.
The short version for a couch: only the Corland listing names real leather, and even it does not say which surfaces. Read more in leather sofa. If your priority is a recliner, see recliner sofa.
Checklist before you buy
- Decide two seats or three from the wall length.
- Run the four sanity checks on the dimension fields.
- Subtract the width from your wall; keep at least 16 inches if you want an end table.
- Add the coffee table gap and walkway to the depth.
- Read the material row and ask which surfaces are leather.
- Measure the delivery path, including the diagonal depth.
Mistakes to avoid
- Believing every dimension field. Two of three listings here look reversed.
- Buying by the word “leather”. Faux and real leather can share a title.
- Forgetting the end table. A couch that fits wall to wall leaves nowhere for a lamp.
- Skipping the return terms. A bulky couch is costly to send back, so read the listing’s return details before you order.
Bottom line
Choose the width from your wall, check the depth against your room, and treat any suspicious dimension field as a question for the seller. A two-seat couch is often the better answer for a short wall, and a three-seater needs more room than its photos suggest.
Frequently asked questions
How wide is a leather loveseat?
The two-seater in this guide reads as 58.5 inches wide, but sizes vary. Check the width against your wall and do not rely on one field.
How do I know if a listing swapped width and depth?
Compare the title with the table, and ask whether the depth makes sense. A loveseat that is 78 inches deep would be longer than a twin mattress, so a 78 inch figure is probably the width.
Is top-grain leather better than genuine leather?
Leather Honey ranks top grain above genuine leather, which it describes as a catch-all for real leather of lower quality. The label does not tell you which part of the hide is used.
Can a leather couch go against a wall?
Yes, a standard one can sit flat against a wall. Recliners need more space behind them; the clearance method is in recliner sofa.
What should I ask the seller about a leather couch?
Ask which grade of leather it is, which surfaces are covered, and what the real width, depth and seat depth are in inches.
